Just installed the new compact version MGW Shifter. I have a few tips to help out my fellow modders:
1. On a GT you will need to assemble the shifter assembly onto the support assembly before you raise the transmission. I could not get these two parts to mate without lowering the transmission.
2. No lube required to put the boot on before putting the shifter in the car. Pre-assembly really helped out and lube would just make the boot more apt to slip off the shift assembly when placing in the car.
3. I found the hardest part to be the removal of the 1/2" bolt that attaches to the shift linkage. I was able to to get this loose from the top easier than from the bottom. Be careful the casting from the factory is sharp(thanks Ford).

The new components from MGW were far superior to the stock and although I have not driven it yet I am pleased with the feel. It took me 4 hours but I took my time. Thanks MGW!

A tip from my experience - I found it easier accessing some of the problem areas lying on my back across the car with feet facing out the driver side. Careful not to kick your jack stands.

I just seemed to have much more room to get arms and hands around the drive shaft. Makes it easier to get the toughest bolt on the top. Laying this way you can cup the driveshaft with your left arm and use your body weight pull down a little, working that top bolt with your right hand.
