Hey guys,

I have the 400A package and trying to figure of the best way to get directions from my iPhone while listening to music. I listen to music via USB most of the time. I use the CD Player and Phone(via bluetooth and cable) as well. Since my phone is paired to the Car, when I get a phone call, SYNC pauses my music and lets the phone call through the car audio which I am happy about. However, the same does not apply when I am getting directions from my phone while listening to music via any of the sources. i.e. it does pause the music and play the audio directions via car stereo. This behavior was the same with both Apple maps and Google maps. I do get the directions to be played via car stereo occasionally but it has been a hit and miss and I haven't figured out the perfect combination.:headbonk:

since I don't see a post for this I am assuming most of you were able to get this working. If so, please enlighten me.

Hey DonShady,

The only audio source that will allow this function to work the way you would like is Bluetooth audio.

You would have to have your music playing through Bluetooth audio and then change the vehicle's media source to Bluetooth as well. This will allow the directions to play through the vehicle's speakers along with the music.

To do this turn on your music on your phone, set your destination, and then press your voice command button and say BLUETOOTH AUDIO.

Let me know how it goes.

Whitney

Thanks Whitney, but there were instances where it would play the directions via bluetooth while I am listening to USB music. I just couldnt figure out the combination how to do it.

You're welcome, DonShady. SYNC isn't designed to play more than one media source at a time. If it happened, it may have been a glitch with the system; however, I can assure you the steps above will allow you to have your music and maps.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Whitney :)

If you use google maps or Apple maps while listening to pandora it comes through via USB. I have done this before. I have not been able to use the built in nav to do this however. Hope that helps.

You could still program both destinations into both GPS to see the map on your larger screen.
