The 2016 May Edition of RoyalAuto (page 52-55) has a positive write up on the Mustang titled, "Born to Be Wild". The vehicle from nose to tail was assessed and apart from the lack of space in the rear and the lack of tilt/slide function on the front seat which "makes access frustrating, I think Ernest (the reporter) was on a fat.

Overall verdict is "it's a modern classic", and the "styling and presentation-wise, you get the feeling Ford parked the iconic 1968 Fastback alongside a new clay model and carved out a modern adaptation"

On performance the EB beat the V8 to 80kmh, and even to 400m the V8 has less than half a second over the four.

A great article written by Ernest Litera.

To the uniformed, the ecoboost does have some grunt :D.
Surprising how close the times are in this comparison though:eyebulge:
................EB Auto.. V8 Man.
0-60km/h; 2.9secs..3.0secs.
0-80km/h; 4.3s .......4.5s
0-100km/h; 6.1s...... 5.8s
50-80km/h; 3.1s ......3.3s
60-100km/h; 4.5s.... 3.8s
0-400m; 14.4s .........14s

Go again? Was miss daisy driving the GT?
Miss daisy was able to fight wheel spin off the line for a 0-100 of 5.8 but somehow needed 3.3 seconds of that overall time to get from 50-80....
Leaving 2.5 seconds for the 0 - 50 and 80 - 100 combined...
I'll rephrase that. It took 3.3 seconds to gain 30 kph, but magically the other 70 happen in 2.5, including a standing start.
Having driven both, my butt dyno tells me that the EB doesn't feel like it's even vaguely in the same league as the GT.
Times might be "similar" but what I felt was vastly different.

Maybe next time you are driving both, see if you can get some times to compare with this test ;).
I understand the V8 will have a better "feeling" for acceleration with the sound, but you have to admit these times are close. Maybe Miss Daisy was driving here as well :) http://www.motoring.com.au/mustang-v8-v-ecoboost-drag-race-101414/ (pause the video near the end and read the times comparison)
As for the 50-80 times, maybe there is an advantage for the automatic over the manual with that one, remember this is a V8 manual vs EB auto.

Here's the results of a test.
The GT is most certainly a manual whilst I'm not sure of the EB.
0.8 seconds separate them to 100km/h, otherwise known as an eternity.
So yeah, it's not just the time that makes the difference to the bum dyno, it's also the way they do it.
The EB is pretty linear (relentless but kinda uninvolving) in its delivery whilst the GT is more dramatic but not just in its exhaust note.

I'm not saying the EB is crap, not even close. It's a great concept and it suits plenty of people, but performance wise, it's playing in a different league to the
GT.

I don't think the times are actually that similar as they're definitely not for the US spec cars. Even with the slight HP loss for the AU spec GT, I cannot believe it still doesn't feel significantly faster if driven with some reasonable level of skill.

Erm wouldn't the 50-80 and 60-100 be rolling acceleration? As in, it is not measured within the 0-100 but separate

I'll have to ring up the RACV and offer to be a test driver, I hit 0-100 5.1 in stock trim. And after changing some things up I have hit 0-100 in 4.8 (entirely due to increased traction). I'm not sure if I could hit any quicker but I will give it a shot on a nice cool night.

These numbers are atrocious though.

As for the whole ecoboost v GT thing, who cares they are both great cars. I did however see this picture on the internet the other day and it made me laugh a lot. Not poking fun at either car, the GT definitely isn't the fastest car in the line up

Were you on a track when you got 5.1 or was this just a random section of road?
What changes were made to the vehicle to get to 4.8?
These are impressive times, particularly for a "slow" manual..
Love your work btw!

I was on a private section of road ;)

The manual is dependent on a good launch, the changes I have made are tyres and short shifter. They made the most difference, also it helps to do it on a nice cool night.

vs a ClubSport, 0.3 of a second off the pace - I'm guessing some fairly small amount of $$$ outlay would close that gap and still see it cheaper than a ClubSport... not bad.

Not super far away from the M2 either - a nice surprise. Again, a few extra $$$ should see it close the gap for a lot less total price.

Have they announced pricing on the GTI 270 yet? I think indicative was meant to be about $55k+ on roads, so I guess its in the ballpark of the Mustang, but with better build quality and lower fuel consumption, but the styling and lack of rear wheel drive bring it down IMHO.
