I have been thinking of how I want to mod the CS. It’s a daily driver, about 30miles one way and mostly highway. So my first question is how bad is the drone in 4th, 5th and 6th? Will the street series work with the factory resonator? How much modification would be needed? How good is the powder coating on the black series? Only having a one year warranty makes me question it.

I had the MBRP installer series on my FJ and it droned like crazy.

MBRP street series is pretty good. Even with headers there is no drone while cruising (3.15 diff 6r80).

The cat back will replace the factory resonator. I don’t think you can use the factory resonator without cutting the factory exhaust.

The cat back exhaust will mate up with your factory exhaust manifolds.

I got the non coated one and it has held up good but I live where the roads aren’t salted and it doesn’t snow.

I have the stainless one, drone at 2krpm in 6th going up a hill (about the worst it gets) rates about a 2 on the drone scale. Very easy to live with, the cold starts are just loud.

The black on mine is holding up really well. Absolutely no drone at any RPM.

The powder coat should hold up fine. The rest of the system is aluminized steel I believe so it will be prone to rusting

Thanks everyone. I'm not too worried about rust. Living in north Texas we don't get all that much freezing weather. When we do and they spray the roads I'm sure ill be driving the FJ anyway.

I was wondering if there had been many issues with the powder coat chipping, cracking and flaking. How does the color hold up? Any issues with the color fading?

Hey Mitt, I got a MBRP street series catback I will sell you. Its aluminized steel with black 4 inch tips w/ about 4K miles on it. I took it off about 2 years ago and its been sitting in my shed in one piece. Came off my 2017 GT premium...nothing wrong with it...just wanted something louder. I live in Mesquite. $225 and its yours.
