I have an aftermarket aluminum hood to install on my 2019 Mustang GT in Magnetic Metallic (J7). I took it to a body shop whose color camera card spray was too blue and their factory paint chip was too light. They said J7 is one of the hardest colors to match and even the temperature can change the color when it’s sprayed, so they want to paint the hood AND fade the new color on both fenders so it won’t stand out. But if they blend the fenders, I won’t be able to reinstall the stock hood unless they repaint the stock hood to match the blended fenders.
Long story short, I’m considering just doing the aftermarket hood in matte black. I’ve seen matte black hoods on light colored mustangs, but never a magnetic metallic and I’m concerned the colors won’t contrast enough. Thoughts?
