Check your oil filter the old oil filter gasket might have stuck to the engine and when that happens you will have a leak, I know you said you have no leaks but if you are burning 4 courts of oil in just 1500 miles there should be smoke coming out of the exhaust as that is a lot of oil to burn through the cylinders.

Pull the plugs, if it is burning oil in the cylinders the plugs are going to be black and oily with that much oil. If they are brown in color then you are not burning the oil there is a leak.

Hello; The car is ten years old if it is the one listed below the avatar. How many miles on it? That you got a low oil warning light is not good.
If other tests fail can you get someone to follow you around while you drive the car. If there is smoke out the exhaust they might see it.

even if not VISIBLY burning oil (out the exhaust pipes) while regularly driving BUT in reality actually burning oil (out the exhaust pipes)
wouldn’t the test for this be at the first-of-the-day cold startup producing a ‘puff’ of smoke from accumulated oil?

Hello; Back this spring I went to look at a 1957 Pontiac Superchief. I did ask the seller to let me be present at the cold startup to look for excess smoke. Have to be aware that under some weather conditions there will be moisture out the exhaust as the exhaust heats up. Similar to our breath in the winter on some days.

The sort of oil burning the OP is looking for is a bit questionable in terms of a cloud of smoke. My guess is the oil smoke may be visible under deceleration. That is when there should be more vacuum inside the engine and can suck oil past the valve guides or past the rings. Actually, both tests, at startup and when running, are clues.

I still would replace the PCV valve were it my car and run it a while. Such has "cured" a bit of oil consumption for me at times. The only bit of information which makes this questionable is that the catch can was at "normal" levels. I do not have experience with catch cans but do figure a bad PCV ought to be letting more oil thru. Someone with experience may chime in on that.
