Time will tell, but after switching out unknown fluid (Car was bought used) with Amsoil MTF, this morning there was no 1 --> 2 nibble. This could be because the oil is thicker, or simply not sheared to all heck, but it was a pleasant surprise. Just wanted to throw it out there in case y'all wanted to try it.

I run amsoil signature series in my engine currently and notice that once I changed to this from the factory fill made a dramatic difference. Runs smoother, less notchy and ultimately just runs better. I plan on running their diff fluid in the future as well and if they had fluid for my a10 I would run that too. Their stuff is top notch, and will gladly pay the cost difference to run their fluid over other competitors

Ah so that's how you describe that 1-2 feeling. It feels like I'm jamming something into the synchro which you can feel spinning. I thought it was just me.

Yeah I hate the feeling because "normal" or not, it's wearing the synchro and blocker ring teeth. It has to be related to the synchro, because that's really the only component that would be affected by the trans fluid.

so which is it, did your full tilt boogie bracket or the Amsoil cure your 2nd gear nibble?

It was the fluid change. The bracket helped a tiny bit with the nibble, but it was the fluid that fixed the nibble. The bracket helps with the direct feeling of the shifts. But, as you're going to be down there doing one or the other, I'd do them both at the same time. I did mine about a week or two apart which is why I can say it was the fluid.

thanks for that. I have the BG in mine, still has the nibble. May try the amsoil.

I’m going to go with the Amsoil in my new trans. I asked if Ford would put it in when putting in my news trans and the advisor said he’d ask. If not I’ll do it myself.

How many qts does the MT82 hold?

Sometimes I wonder if there is nothing magic about the fluid, other than the new stuff isn't sheared. The viscosity of both the BG fluid and the Amsoil is much higher than the factory stuff, so I expected the nibble to be worse actually, but morning after morning, there is no nibble, so I can't complain.

My car has only about 26k miles on it, so the amount that it fixes could very well be dependent on how bad the synchro friction material is worn. Whatever the case may be, I hope this helps!

2.7, but the extra 0.3 is useful when you spill some of it on the floor if you're clumsy like me :)

Tip: undo the fill plug first. Don't loosen only the drain, otherwise you will have DCT/tranny fluid everywhere under the car as it glugs/splashes everywhere except in the drain pan (Don't ask how I know)
