I haven't noticed any weird noises so far.
On a related note, I didn't find the clutch weird in any way either.
Sure it has a bit of a high grabbing point, but I've driven other recent cars with exactly the same 'problem'. I have no trouble at all to feel the grabbing point, even with the assist spring.

I say only this: It is not a coinsidence that the exotic brands and supersport models offer ONLY auto trans and very highly scientific engineered as well.

Manual is only for the romantics and cheap cars now on.

How about Cayman GT4 ? Cheap or for romantics ? Vette Z06 ? Auto trans people are using more and more idiotic arguments to justify their purchase...

Cheap. :D
After all, many brands offer one model with manual/auto selection for marketing/selling purposes.
Don't justice from one specific model but from the whole industry.
The future is auto. Like it or not .
Idiotic argument is ferrari who first introduced F1 patent?
Idiotic argument is Lamborghini? Or maserati ? Or Bentley?

You want to race on racetracks? I can't even imagine a petrolhead who want to order a GT-R with manual.....

are you comparing a ferrari\lamborghini\maserati with a mustang? Don't think they uses the same auto transmission..

EDIT: this forum is full of discussion between auto vs manual transmission, and ecoboost vs gt.. Better not to start another thread on that!

Supercars and sportcars are not the same thing. Most people buying a Ferrari don't know half of the things we know about Mustangs: they are rich, not car lovers (most of them).
How many ATs have you seen in the Fast and Furious movie series?

A discussion about what gearbox is better can go on all day...some prefer manuals, some automatics. I personally much prefer automatic. I mean, why stir the oil when you can have it done for you?!

In any case, the future will be automatic only as all cars in the future will be electric and as far as we know today, they can not be driven using a manual.

because it's FUN! It's the same argument as "why would you f*ck your girl when someone else can do it for you? It's a lot less effort!" :D

But I agree with you, to each their own - hopefully we have the ability to choose!

I agree with papinist, even if my Italian MT-bias is strong!
The (more distant) future will be probably populated by automatic driving cars, which accelerate, brake, steer, on their own to avoid crashes, consume less fuel etc.
Anyway, while it can be ok to move from A to B, there will be always people who LIKE driving itself, and driving includes being in touch with the engine, the steering and transmission (IMHO!). The only moments when I use AT is on driving videogames... when my 2 and 5 years old kids want to play! :)

It's always an option, a 2000€ option:D
Except when you live in the Netherlands. Then it's a 23.000 euro option, thanks to our retarded tax system.

Personally I'd take an automatic any day over a manual. I've driven automatics for 20 years straight now and in my opinion they are by far the superior way to operate a gearbox in a daily driver. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy driving a light sports car with a manual on a track or a curvey mountain road, but reality is that 99.9% of the time you drive in traffic on a boring road where manual shifting gives no pleasure whatsoever.

The only reason that I'm going back to manual now is that I refuse to pay the 21.000 euro tax penalty. I seriously considered getting a 420i coupe with that wonderful ZF automatic instead, but I know I'd be miserable in it every day because it's not a Mustang.

Sorry to break this news to you, but you're not buying a supercar, neither you're buying a sports car (regardless of what you think). Many brands offer manual transmission because people want it. No other reason and definitely not marketing and selling purposes (what kind of argument is that ? It would 100x easier and cheaper to not offer it).
Auto trans in GT-R or Ferrari is 1000 light years ahead of an ancient unit in Mustang. And those are entirely different cars.

I notice that a lot of people say they prefer an auto due to being in heavy traffic during a daily drive. I prefer a manual for that very reason...it gives me something to do when stuck in traffic...it a small joy in an otherwise boring trip...and I am 58 with both ankles held together with plates and screws, pins in both femurs and my left leg is a bit shorter than the right one and my left knee only bends a small amount....all due to the joys of motorcycle accidents, but any pain is better than the lack of connectivity with the car that autos give me. Worse than that is the terrible sound that a car has when it is an auto with a loud exhaust.....the slippage from the torque converter is so obvious...
