I do have a sub(electrician) that bought one, he’s since turned it in to personal use and went back to a regular truck. He was less then a hundred miles in range loaded. I use a 550 daily. Its just under 13klbs the way it sits. Mileage for me is about 12.5 by itself or

pulling 20k. Which I'm good with. It’ll be interesting to see what comes out down the pipe for the service side. I don’t think it’ll be anything usefull for quite some time.

I agree, some light towing or just taking some tools around and staying local, the Lightning should be sufficient. Maybe the discounts will help those that are on the fence but the heavy users should absolutely stick with an ICE truck. The Lightning is a beautiful truck, the capabilities just don’t seem to be what is advertised.

On a side note, my dealer does have an F-150 King Ranch that is absolutely stunning. I don’t really need a truck but I was tempted LOL.

12.5 is pretty good mileage for a truck of that size. I would’ve guessed +/- 10. Right now the amount of batteries you’d need to get decent mileage is probably not cost efficient at all. Will be interesting to see how it develops down the road. I still think alternative fuels is better long term solution if we’re really going to move away from fossil fuels

Imagine the trade in value of these things in 4 or 5 years. To me they are like PCs. As new tech (increased range) comes in the old ones will be door stoppers.
I'm guessing the value won't be nearly as good as a PC. With a PC you can at least swap out the battery when it's worn out. The way EVs are currently designed, it costs more to change out the battery than the vehicle is worth. So they will be thrown in the landfills.

Great for the environment, no?

Yup videos all over yt mocking Ford idiocy. Maybe that's why there are legions of h1b Indians doing everything - American engineers simply don't exist anymore, or are even dumber than the imports. What the hell is going on at Univ of Michigan?
Hey, don't lump all of us together like that. Typically engineers aren't the ones driving the specs. That's more of a marketing/management task. I'd be willing to bet that the engineers knew exactly about the issues prior to releasing the Lightning. Someone high up the chain of management made the decision to release anyway.

But anyway, most of what I see pickups doing around here is driving back and forth to someone's office job. The Lightning can do that just fine.

true enough. I was taking a cheap shot admittedly. My dad is EE and then later on he had to wear the title of head of marketing. It was stressful because he couldn't bring himself to lie to customers like the CEO wanted him to.

I can't begin to count how much trouble I've gotten into for telling the unvarnished GD truth to (prospective) customers.

I think the reason any EV sells is because someone thinks it's cool. I doubt most people believe an EV is going to have similar performance/dollar to an ICE vehicle.

There are 2937 Ford dealers in the United States. 9000 total vehicles is roughly 3 cars per dealer. I doubt Ford is overly concerned about this.

Part of it is the price tag , other part is the dealers MARK UP. They don't want to sell them, they rather you buy a baby Bronco.
If they took the Mach-e and put the running gear in the baby bronco, they sell everyone they could pump out. Sedans and coupes are D.O.A. a boxy suv is in.
We have three Ford dealers here in the Grand Strand. One has seven Mach-E’s, four in stock. No markups. The second, and largest, has thirteen, nine in stock. No markups. And finally my dealer has five, four in stock. The GM told me he has no issue moving them and would be happy to offer me a great deal on one.

While having wife's truck serviced, I looked at a deep read metallic mach e gt 7500 over sticker. They had 2 the other was black, also 7500 over. and 2 lightnings one msrp of 65k and the other 88k both with 10k over added.
I think Ford if they want to start moving them needs to do like they did with the f trucks 0.0% for 72.
It isn't a bad car, I have one as a work vehicle. but wrong name, and wrong body style.
Build the same thing as a baby bronco and watch them fly off the floor.

I don't know what would happen if the Bronco Sport had an all EV variety available. My wife bought a BS last year and I know for sure she is not at all interested in an EV. I don't think an EV BS would sell, but that might just be my bias. I think most people don't want an EV quite yet. They don't know how well resale will do and how long the vehicle will last. They don't know if it will be reliable, even when new.

I know I wouldn't like to be stuck in stop and go traffic when it's -10F and snowing, pitch dark at 4 pm with the defrost and heat cranked, running lights, etc. and be dependent on a battery after the car sat outside all day. Most people around here know that batteries don't work that well in the cold, and they also know the greatest power demands can happen on really cold days. It's not just a matter of preference. It's dangerous to be stranded in really cold temperatures, even for a short time.

I personally think that if a person wants to be fuel efficient they will buy a Prius or similar small hybrid car. Those are practical vehicles with few drawbacks. I see quite a few women who live in my area own them. My wife wanted an SUV with more ground clearance and capability, because we get a fair amount of snow and the roads aren't cleared very quickly all the time.
