Ya, I had to take the mustang over the camero still, because I could only fit 2 dead bodies in the trunk of the Camaro, and I could easily fit 4 dead bodies in the trunk of the mustang.

So just for the record: The Camaro is not better in every way, because I cant stash as many dead bodies in the trunk as i need to, and taking multiple trips to the crime scene is too risky.
My SRT could fit a mustang and a camero in the trunk. And still do a 1/4 mile burnout.

This has not been my experience, personally, with my Mustang. My 2018 Mustang GT PP1 was a good looking car that completely blended in at car shows because it was one of many S550 Mustang GTs there. The only Mustangs that get attention are GT350s and GT500s. I received compliments on the GT in the wild from time to time, but never at a car show. My ZL1 on the other hand...strangers stop to take pictures, random people take pics of it while I'm driving (a lady in her minivan this week), and strangers walking by stop to take pics when its parked at my gym. All in the 3 months since I've owned it. An SS 1LE probably doesn't get the same reactions or attention as a ZL1, but I never once had a stranger take a pic of my GT in almost 2.5 years of ownership either.

IMO having owned both a 2018 Mustang GT PP1 and a '21 ZL1, the reason Camaros don't sell as well as Mustangs is because the Camaro isn't quite as practical as a Mustang in ways that the average consumer wants. Mustang has slightly better ingress/egress (shorter doors, higher seats), more glass or less sheet metal on the roof making the Mustang feel more airy inside and improving visibility, slightly better rear visibility due to the downward slope of the trunk lid, and a larger trunk and trunk opening. The Mustang is a taller car, which helps open it up a little as well. Also, I can see why the Mustang styling appeals to more people on average as well. It has a beautiful fastback shape, and a less risky/ less polarizing front end design.

I doubt Ford will come out and give props to its biggest competitor; that it had to benchmark a less expensive car and still came out behind performance-wise despite costing more, as indicated by the Motortrend article previously linked.

Yes, the Mach 1 is a sweet car - great looking, good performance, but a great performance deal it is not considering it's main competitor has been doing it cheaper for several years.

I think it's ridiculous that a well optioned Mach 1 w/ handling package costs as much as a ZL1, which is already fully loaded.
I wouldnā€™t expect that Ford would give props to chevy. What I asked for is any indication at all that the Mach 1 project set out to match or exceed the 1le, and none has been provided. I get that itā€™s an easy assumption to makeā€¦ā€¦Ford set their sights on the 1le and built the Mach 1 to go after it. I mean no disrespect but thatā€™s an ignorant opinion to hold. Just because the mustang and camaro have been competitors for decades does not mean that the return of the Mach 1 has anything to do with the 1le. If you as a buyer want to cross shop those 2 cars you are free to do so. But not everyone else will. And because you compare the 2 does not in any way relate to why Ford set out to do with the Mach 1.

I agree the Mach 1 is a sweet car, I love mine :like: Weā€™ll have to agree to disagree on it being a great performance deal. There is no other car in this space (performance/cost) that meets my needs and expectations. I thought it was a good deal and many others do too. That seems to be the common theme with sales between the mustang and camaro lineups as a whole. And I donā€™t mean that as a dig at the camaro. I think they offer an insane amount of performance for the dollar and if the interior layout appealed to me more and I could see out of them better I would have strongly considered a zl1.

You know nothing about the bailout obviously and it doesn't matter to you that's fine. You're probably a socialist that's up to you. But I work hard for my money and I don't like it being spent on a company that's irresponsible and poorly managed.

However most people that buy the mustang Mach 1 will never track it. That's facts not opinion. You need to look at the marketing materials and who its marketed to. People that pay $60,000 for a car they likely will only keep a few years are not a 28-year-old that's struggling to make a house payment.
That's the problem with these forums too many people speaking about things they know nothing about.

You might know about the performance aspects I'll give you that, but the marketing you have no idea. The proof is that most people are not buying Camaros no matter how much you might like them and no matter how objective you are in their performance aspects.

The Camaro again will likely not be produced by general motors because of low sales, unless Uncle Sam bails them out again which by the way they have mentioned that they would like more money from the federal government. They'll never get a cent from me. They just don't understand the customer and what the customer wants except for the very extreme group who are so small that they can't make the product pay. That's simple economics and area I know a great deal about.

I'm purchasing the Mach 1 because I want to. Additionally if I don't keep it long I'll make for a great deal somebody buying a used car further helping the economy. Don't buy it if you don't want to.

In the long run they're just automobiles and steel. By what you want.

Mustang 6G is just going down the road of more complainers and whiners than people that really want to talk objective stuff about cars. And I'm an old man time for me to get off of here.
Weā€™ll said!

on 3 thinks his pooh should be consumed by all of usā€¦..

the seats are so nicely close-fitting in the Camaro the extra dead body goes in the front seat.

Damn, you triggered.

You don't understand how taxes work obviously but go ahead and get your panties in a wad junior

Complaining? I'm not the one bitching and moaning about taxes and bailouts? Real objective car stuff there, fucking genius
Actually, I do understand taxes very well. I'm a CFP by profession. The year of the bailout I paid over $165,000 in federal taxes and doing the math of 82B, it amounted to about 1,200 of my tax dollars. This was my profession, not a hobby. GM also never paid all the money back. The government violated serious SEC rules by bailing out the company and violating the bond covenants. Canceling out the expensive union contracts and was allowed to re-negotiate many other contracts. Ford had no such help. They didn't want to sell their soul for the cash.
In sum, GM cheated. I don't deal with cheaters. And, I don't care how many cool cars they cheated with.

I agree with the sentiment, but I also HATE unions, especially the autoworkers and teamsters. My Mustang is unfortunately assembled by those people and I use UPS to ship stuff. So on principle the only cars I can buy are those that are built in freedom of association states and primarily of the Japanese brands. Except they don't make what I want.

I mean we can all virtue signal with the choice of purchase (maybe just buy used?) just like I won't buy Coke and Nike, and what the gov't did was indisputably CRIMINAL. GM should have been a smoking crater after being forced into bankruptcy by their own incompetency and the recalcitrant Union. The labor terms in these Union contracts is unconscionable but these companies refuse to move their existing plants out of these prison states so they are forever shackled into a non-competitive existence. So they turn to Mexico and China to try to average out the situation.

Hey at least my factory wrapped Camaro hood avoids rock chips while M1 people have to look at that penis sticker every day. :p

The bad news: this topic is still going.
The good news: It has gotten off topic.
OR, is it the other way around?

Canā€™t believe Ford is making me do this with their continual parade of shipment delays on my Mach 1 but shits about to get realā€¦ working on a 2% under invoice deal on a 2021 SS 1LE 2SS with sunroof and data recorder that would be about $6K less than the M1. Canā€™t imagine changing teams like this. Would probably buy the M1 too and just resell it if I like the 1LE better, or trade the 1LE on the M1 if it ever gets here.

6k is average monthly salary in USA, work one month more till your build date and you'll wipe out the difference šŸ˜ Pretty sure with both cars the performance/ride will be quite similar so it's more about the looks where it gets subjective. You should know which one do you like more.

You're over-reacting. Factory has been closed for 2 months, this is not your ordinary situation (GM has closed factories too), the availability of various parts is a serious problem right now for most car makers, we have the same problems in Europe too. Someone else may get sooner date because he has some less problematic combination of parts, or it's just buzz and he'll get delayed, don't let that concern you one bit.

PS: Check this review/opinion on this question at 24:41, love this guy, he's a GM fanboy btw.

the stripper Mach1 is 53,400, 55,300 for premium. Which is already thousands north of the top trim 2SS/1LE. For the Ford to have feature parity with the 1LE you have to add the Handling Pack at $4000 making it a laughably bad deal. There is absolutely no justification for the Mach1 700A with all the options being north of 56k.
Green apples to Machintosh. see what i did there ? anyway, both cars are cool. i mean transformers yellow bee. come on.
i bought the Mach 1 intosh. I've owned a camaro. stingray. 911 x 2. about 30 other cars. ( im old ). this is a great one. drives so much better than my 2016 GT. exhaust, tremac, magnaride, tech, steering, feels faster in 1st and 2nd. it is expensive and we're very lucky !
