I did the track attack back in May and had a blast. Anyway, I know the cars are 2021 or 2022 Mach 1s with the handling package. We asked what changes they make and they said they remove the TPMS, change brake fluid, install roll bar and harness. Does anyone know what roll bar and harness they install? Also, how does harness bolt in? Using stock points for the three point seat belts? I am thinking about track days with the car. Not sure how serious I will get, but would like to add some safety items. Thanks.

It's a Watson roll bar and a Safecraft harness with Ford Performance branding. Watson also sells a roll bar harness attachment kit for the lap belts. The shoulder belts attach to the roll bar.

Edit: Hit submit too quick.

The bracket just goes under the seat and you use the original T50s to mount the seat back in and you clip the harness to those points and use pins for safety in the clips

FYI a lot of clubs don’t allow 4 point.

Exactly this. NASA SoCal does not want 4-points in anymore and will not allow you to pass tech if that's your only belt. OEM belt or 5/6 point. Better to have the extra safety.

As one of the few folks who tested the restraint system (in one of the GTs, not a Mach 1), I'm happy to report their setup works amazingly well! I put their car into the wall nose-on at about 30 mph, across the grass after rotating a bit too much coming out of Roval turn 7. No bumps or bruises at all. The HANS device kept my head and neck safe and it was (oddly enough) a good experience. I'm ready to go again - I trust their gear and setup.

Can that setup be added to Schroth QuickFit Pro 4? My shoulder belts make the lap belt ride up too high.

Yes, but the Schroth latch is a tight fight down there. I would tighten your lap belt down almost uncomfortably tight before tightening your shoulder straps if that is happening. You can also buy the sub strab to convert to a 5/6 point from Schroth. That would be my recommendation as it is far safer than a 4 point.

Yes I know about their sub strap.
It's the bracketry I'm curious about. My understanding was that a 5pt was not possible with sofa seat.
Yeah it’s not. I’m guessing you want the eye bolts more along the side of the seat and more forward of where they are on that mount? That’s a trip to the store for some stock metal and get to work fabricating something up. Run a bar across under the seat and then two bars angled back to the seat mount points. Drill the angle bars so the seat can sit on them and then mount with the T50s through the seat mount and bars (plenty of length) and then drill the crossbar and angle bars and use the eye bolts to hold them together. This would move the mount points more forward and still be safe to handle the loads. I could draw something up if you wanted but that’s what I’m visualizing. Need bars, angle grinder drill bits, eye bolts and black paint.

Yeah I run my lap belt pretty tight and the shoulder belts kinda loose. Doesn't seem optimal.

Sure, a napkin sketch is all I need. I could CAD from that if that level of design is necessary.

And I suspect that at tech inspection I wouldn't be asked any questions, lol.

So if I’m understanding the above conversation correctly, and feel free to ignore me or correct me if I’m wrong, we’re talking about a 5/6 point added to a Mustang.

So full disclosure, photos below are not a Mustang, but principle is the same. For a 5 point, you want the mount behind the belt line for the lap belt. We use 1/4” steel plate drilled and tapped for an eye bolt.

It’s also important to have the lap belts at a correct angle. Which is why the Watson is cool, cause it uses the factory mount points.

Although I’m certain Watson tests their harness, what I find interesting is the shoulder straps come from a lower point than you’d normally mount on a regular roll bar. But I guess because they come over the seat that gets sort of the preferred angle.

My understanding is they are talking about 4 points and getting the laps in a better position to prevent a submarine while 99.9% of us that are commenting would never ever drive on a track with 4 points.

I run a 6 point myself.

I don’t see why people don’t just run the 3 point with airbags. It’s safer than a harness bar or 4pt bar with a 4pt harness. If you’re going to switch to harnesses it should be 5/6 pt.

I would say 80% of the guys that show up for my club just run 3 point and airbags. The remainder are cars like mine or fully caged race cars and, if so, 5 point minimum harness is required. My car is a “tweener”. It’s got a 6pt bolt in and halo seat with 6 point harness. Not a race car but the minimum I’m comfortable with running a bucket seat and harness.
