Since the Mach 1 shares the same transmission with the GT350 would it be safe to assume that the shifter assembly is also shared? If so, would the aftermarket shifters made by Barton and MGW work on the Mach 1? Just curious...

That's a logical assumption but I'd hold off for a couple of reasons. One, Ford may have tweaked something that requires a change to the overall assembly - unlikely but possible. Two, one of the shifter companies you mentioned might just be getting a Mach 1 soon for development of a new TR3160 shifter.

For what I remember of my previous Tremecs (T56s and TR6060s), the MT82 shifts nicer IMO. The Tremecs might withstand more abuse, but with their internal gates, shifting feel was crap, for what I remember. My last was on the 2013 Vette C6 (the last year), which was defective (2nd gear synchro crunching when cold, and I literally drove the car off the truck, with 3 miles on the clock). So not sure much can be done about that, I think, but for people who will 'abuse' the car, meaning shifting quickly, the Tremec is probably the better choice stock to stock. However, I'd prefer a beefed-up MT82 over a Tremec all day long. Finally, remember reading the TR3160 might not even be stronger than the MT82; just more friendly to mild abuse. Who knows.

I had the MT82 in my '14 GT and an older Tremec in my' 11 GT500. The Tremec in my GT350 (same as the Mach 1) blows them both out of the water. It is just a joy to use. Very clean and and precise. No lockout issues ever. Extremely satisfying amount of mechanical feel. I love this transmission / shifter.

The TR3160 is in another league in comparison to the MT82.

Are the shift knob threads the same as the gt350? I’d like to order a custom shift knob but the vendor doesnt have the Mach 1 up on their site yet. Thinking I should select gt350 because of the tremec......
