Lug nut wheel torque question

After having my rims changed out at the dealership---snows off/summer ones on--I decided to check the torque on the lug nuts to make sure nothing was loose after 100 miles.
The manual says 150 ft.lbs which seemed high, but I decided to go with it.
Unfortunately, the 13/16" socket head was too small and 7/8" too large, so I called the dealer for the straight info. Bad idea.
The service person checked into it and said they couldn't give out that info but sent me to a website that didn't have the data on the '16' Mustang wheel specs.
To say I was a bit surprised was an understatement, but doing a search here I found out that a 21mm socket head is supposed to work--Correct?
Now--about that torque setting---is that what owners are using or something else?
I ask since our RAV4 uses 85 ft.lb, the Porsche 115 ft.lb and now the Mustang is 150.....

Are you SURE that the 13/16" was too small? That's the exact size of the OEM lug nuts on my 2015 GT. While 21mm will also fit, you can cause corner rounding over time using that size and it's recommended to only use 13/16".

150lbs is alot, but the new mustang is using 14mm studs. These are torqued higher than 12mm studs.

It is so tight I'm not sure I've got it on deep enough to torque it w/o rounding the edges.

Are you using a shallow socket or a deep socket? I bought a single 13/16" deep socket from my local auto parts store for like $4 to keep in my tool chest in the garage just for lug nuts. Keeps me from having to dig out the tool kit I keep in the spare tire well.

Have used 13/16 myself and fits perfect with no marring. Tq to 150 ftlb with no issues.

The OEM lug nuts have a soft outer coating that sort of mushrooms out over time. Mine used to take 13/16" until one day I couldn't put the 13/16" socket on. I used a 21mm to remove them and I sanded down the soft outer coating.

I use a 21mm 12pt socket, no problem so far.
Also no need to hit 150 ftlbs. I've been using 120 and they never loosened up. Brand new from factory the lugs were torqued to 110 when I removed them.

correct very few applications need more then 100 ft lbs
