Get your minds out of the gutter!:cwl::cwl:

Do the sway bar mounts or anything else require periodic lubrication? I am getting some groans when I turn the wheel I am trying to figure out.

I usually clean and spray lube the rubber bushings once or twice per year when its up on jack stands as part of normal maintenance. I imagine climate and driving patterns makes this issue worse for some. Tight stuff needs lube...

Spray lube it with?... silicon spray?

Teach me your ways @madlag. I honestly, hope I don't have to lube it, ever. Especially, if it means having to remove it which how else would one get lube underneath the rubber bushing?

Any good spray lube will work but after cleaning the underside of car (usually very diluted degreaser and a light hit w/pressure washer while on blocks, let it all dry. Next day, I hit with a silicone spray lube on all the rubber. if I take anything down or apart like a sway bar bushing, I coat friction points it in a waterproof lithium grease. Had a squawk in rear sway before; did this and it resolved it. Hope this helps.

Same issue with the groans which was driving me nuts. Grabbed some lithium grease and went to town lubricating the bushings around the BMR sways, stock front control arms and Scott Drake front sway bar end links. No more noises when turning the front wheels either way and have resigned myself to the fact that I may have to do this going forward.

one reason that I use silicone is bc of the mess. its alot cleaner and doesn't gunk or attract as much dirt over time. The downside is it doesnt last as long... Lithium is better for this application imo but drives my OCD wild.

Did you have to loosen the sway bar mounts to do this?

Interesting, I am reviewing the service manual for another reason and found this:

NOTICE: Do not use any lubrication on the stabilizer bar or the bushings or damage to the
bushings may occur.

What are your thoughts on that? I thought it was weird they contradicted themselves.

This is an interesting discussion, and I was writing this when @NoXiDe posted the service manual instructions. Personally, I'd never go near rubber parts with any kind of lube. It destroys them. Rubber is tough stuff, but anything made with hydrocarbons will damage it over time - it gets brittle and cracks and loses its resiliency.

IF you have poly bushings, they need lubrication, but lubing natural rubber is a bad idea.

Ford Performance Track Sway Bars do use Polyurethane Bushings, it all makes sense now.
