Lost my cat Jack today, he was about 9.5 years old. He was killed by another animal while outside.

We usually let him out as he loves to be outside. My dad let him out this morning and he didn’t come back at his normal time for food. Found him at the park.

Really hard for me as this is the first pet I’ve ever lost and we lost him so suddenly. He was a great cat and so damn smart for one too, he would do anything to get food.

Hello; Loss of a pet is tough, especially the first. Lost my first dog at under the age of ten. That we live longer than most pets makes such a loss generally inevitable. That understanding does not remove the hurt.
For a cat it had a fairly long life. May not mean much right now but you gave it that.

that sucks man, no nice way to say it. I drove in my yard last week to see a coyote with one of our chickens in its mouth, prancing off into the woods 🤨

I have buried more animals than I care to recall…grew up on a 60 horse farm, grandpa had 100 head of cows, we raised dogs my entire childhood and the barn cats repopulated all on their own.

the one thing I learned, is you will always outlive your pets (except parrots) so enjoy them while they are here, and give them the best life you can 😎

Male tuxedo’s are the absolute best. I rescued 2 and yes they’re so damn smart.
Yep, he had a great personality especially as he started getting more mature. Just friendly and needy enough for you to know he wanted to be around you, but not obsessively needy. He would do anything to get his food when he was hungry. One time he managed to unscrew the lid on the food container. Every time we would refill the container he would stick his head into the pile of food and try to eat as much as he could.

Yep we think it was a coyote or bobcat. He started venturing off from the yard and we moved to a place with more wildlife. Recently we have been restricting him going out at night but looks like it was still too early in the morning to avoid them.

Hahaha Chief (on the left) loses patience and knocks the Tupperware of treats over from time to time. Jack sounds awesome. When you’re ready I hope you get another.

2017 GT350 now gone to a great home.
Sorry about Jack. It’s really rough when you lose a pet so suddenly. You’re just not prepared for it and it’s very painful. Our cat Willy, who was only 3 contracted something and we rushed him to the cat hospital at 2 am only to have the staff triage him and tell us he would have to wait his turn. He died 2 hours later. That was a tough one to accept. Jack had a great life and thank you for supporting and watching over him.

My condolences my friend. My wife has had several pets but I am on my first dog right now and I love her to death. Things will get better and I know you’ll do it again. It’ll just take some time.

Sorry about your cat, Jack, losing a good pet is like losing a family member…. Except they can be replaced, when the time is right you will hopefully find and give another cat or dog a good life… life is too short to be without pets

sorry.

This cat was by far my favorite animal. I’m glad I took some extra moments to spend with him and took photos, I think that’s helping a lot now. I'm just glad I don't have many regrets about the time I spent with him.

Thank you for the kind words

My worry is I won't find another like him. We have 2 other cats who just don't have the best personalities. Jack was really human-like, he had the personality of a dog more than a cat.

Ya we think we will have all this time and have signs when they get old and are ready to go, but one day they are just gone. I'm just trying to be happy about the time I had with him.

Thank you and sorry about Willy
