Not that I ever thought he was a great actor or anything, but he was entertaining in some past movies.

Either he's unaware of what is really going on, or he decided he wanted to lie to the public for political gain.

Whichever is true, I have no respect for the guy any more. Just take your little award and go away. I wasn't trying actively to avoid Brad Pitt movies in the past, but I really have no interest now.

Really this broke the camels back? I surely would have thought him killing Nazis would have been the last straw, those fine people persecuted by those rabid liberals for their conservative beliefs.
Nazi was a socialist party. They have similar values to at least some of the current Democrats. Conservatives don't think that way. Conservatives want freedom - not to destroy all people who disagree.

And I actually didn't see the movie you are referring to, so that doesn't enter into my judgement of Brad Pitt.

LMAO! You really need to learn world history. Hitler was totally against the notion of equality and wanted to wage war on Marx's idea of such. You fall into a common trap of using twenty first century American politics and norms and transpose those into a different context. Policies may look like left wing socialism from the vantage point of the 2020 US political scene, but had very different meanings in 1937 Germany, Hitler was nowhere even close to Germanys left during that time.

Most of the NSDAPs left wing faction was expelled in the Bamberg Conference and any remaining were either executed in 1934 or forced to tow party line.

I'm glad he won - his performance was great. And thankfully the goon squad didn't kill him like Brown Shirts wouldv'e in Nazi Germany for stating an opinion against Der Fuehrer. That said, I don't look to amateurs when I want expert opinions. Actors are there to entertain us - not provide me with expertise on nuclear physics, medicine, the practice of law, etc.

I agree with this 100%. Most big actors in film have common beliefs, they live in their bubble. I don't take my car to a plumber for mechanical advice.

OP you might as well turn off TV and music cause most entertained feel the same way

Agreed, his performance was worthy of Oscar. However, while I agree I wouldn't ask just anyone for their help in regards to a legal matter if they didn't practice law but telling people that can't express their political positions because of their job is incredibly unamerican.

@Biggus Dickus not directed at you, but let's not forget its one-sided when a celebrity or sports player does/says something one agrees with politically, its patriotic and good use of the public ear. However, when they do/say something people disagree with, it's lets keep politics out of this. Some people here are very hypocritical.

Just one man expressing his opinion. So what? Have we all become so weak knee’d that we cannot let a person have their say. You don’t like his opinion, fine, that’s OK. You like his opinion, fine, that’s OK too. I neither respect nor disrespect him. I don’t know him personally so what difference does it make?

Totally agree - the Patriotism lies in the freedom to voice one's thoughts/opinions, and not the content thereof - I subscribe to the philosophy of Supreme Court Justices Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr and William Douglas regarding the "Marketplace of Ideas"

Holmes said: "Persecution for the expression of opinions seems to me perfectly logical. If you have no doubt of your premises or your power and want a certain result with all your heart you naturally express your wishes in law and sweep away all opposition...But when men have realized that time has upset many fighting faiths, they may come to believe even more than they believe the very foundations of their own conduct that the ultimate good desired is better reached by free trade in ideas... . The best test of truth is the power of the thought to get itself accepted in the competition of the market, and that truth is the only ground upon which their wishes safely can be carried out"

Douglas said:" "Like the publishers of newspapers, magazines, or books, this publisher bids for the minds of men in the market place of ideas"

Finally, English poet John Milton said that restricting speech was not necessary because "in a free and open encounter" truth would prevail.

Somehow you misunderstand me. I'm not saying it should be illegal for him to say what he thinks or spout some BS if he doesn't really think that but he just felt like saying something dumb. Not sure why you think that.

I'm saying I think less of him for saying what he did.

And are you so weak that you can't handle me saying that? Is he free to say what he thinks but I'm not free?

I'm not sure why you don't understand what difference it makes. I understand why a politician lies. But someone who isn't in political office saying what he did is something different. Now I know more about him and I don't like it. I used to think he was a smart and likable person. Now I think he's either not very bright, is a jerk, or a thug. If I knew him less I'd probably like him more.

Frankly I find it offensive when people want to disregard the facts and rule of law. And it seems dangerous to me as well. You know in Germany before the Jews were murdered somehow people got in their minds that they could ignore facts and rule of law. Same thing in other socialist "paradises" in various locations and at different times in history.

Maybe this reaction sounds over the top to you, but what I heard him say is "I disagree with Trump so he should be thrown out". And if there are too many people who think that way here, our freedom and way of life is gone.

I just said it was dumb, not that he shouldn't be allowed to talk.

You may not have said it but you implied it.

Either he's unaware of what is really going on, or he decided he wanted to lie to the public for political gain.
So because he is rich movie star he is unaware? And what political gain? Is he running for office?

Just take your little award and go away.
So he is allowed to talk but you want him to go away? Hack, your words betray your thoughts.

You may not have said it but you inferred it.

I lost all respect for you with this post.

Just an FYI.

By the way - I disagree with the first thing you said - but I also have to explain to you if I had IMPLIED it, you might have INFERRED it. But I certainly didn't INFER it.

Yup, apologies for the misuse of inferred. Only on my first cup of Joe.

So can I infer that you agree with the second thing I said? :)

And by the way I may not agree with some of your thoughts but I respect your right to express them. :like:

I would go into how ironic and hypocritical this is but I know both would be lost on you. May Saint Trump and Saint Nugent bless you with hatred and violence.
