Looking for Factory Clutch Assist Spring

I recently purchased a low mileage 2018 Mustang GT Premium 6 speed manual and love it! At time of purchase it was missing the clutch assist spring. I purchased a Steeda 35 lb/in spring and installed but the pedal is still pretty stiff for my taste (and my wife). I would like to try the factory spring but have discovered that Ford doesn’t sell the spring by itself, you have to buy the entire clutch assembly. Does anyone out there have a factory spring that they would be willing to sell?

I bought my 2019 GT with the stock spring and swapped in the Steeda spring and perch soon after. I rate the stock spring considerably stiffer and not nearly as smooth as the Steeda. Not sure what softer options are available, if any.

Interesting. Thanks for the reply. I would have thought the stock spring would provide a lighter pedal but apparently not. I’ve read the spring rate is higher (105 lb/in?) but thought that would be “helping”. Thanks for the feedback!

The spring is lighter for sure, but it feels very odd and it’s hard to be smooth since the pedal accelerates on the upward motion, so hard to press down but comes up faster. It’s a very stupid clutch pedal feel. I don’t know where mine anymore.

The stock spring does provide more assist and easier to depress pedal.

I think the spring rate is closer to 180 lbs, found a much smoother engagement with the Steeda - could likely even teach my daughter how to drive stick in this thing!

I agree that the Steeda spring was not stiffer, just a tad smoother than stock. Going back to the stock spring is not your solution but there may be another 3rd party spring that meets your needs.

I would have to agree with other people that if you think that is to stiff the stock spring is definitely not the way you would want to go. Not sure where you are located but if it is anywhere near westchester ny I'd be willing to let you borrow my stock spring so you can see for yourself

The stock spring is HORRIBLE! No clutch engagement feel AT ALL! Between the steeda spring, BG Syncro II trans fluid, and MGW shifter, the MT82 is probably as good as it's gonna get. Each was noticeable and significant improvement to driving the vehicle.

I recommend not trying the stock spring. Stick with what you have, it's about as good as it can get imo.

Ripped mine out, it's a free mod and you get to feel what the transmission is doing.

1 more to tell you the steeda is 10x better. Stock isn’t smooth at all and feels easy, then stiff then easy again. In all reality the steeda isn’t that stiff either. Feels like a fake clutch compared to my 01 ws6

Thanks for adding your experience. I think I will just stick with the Steeda.
