long wait

Does anybody else have this problem? I ordered my Guard metallic Gt with Performance Package on May 20th, it went into production on Aug. 28th and was completed on Sept. 10th, All good, except they haven't shipped it yet!!! After multiple calls to my dealer and Ford direct, all they will tell me is "your car is missing a part" What part, I ask, don't know, they say! "could be anything from a window switch to a piece of seat trim" sounds like Bull to me.

Not only does that sound like bullshit that they probably came up with on the spot to give you some kind reason, it's a horrible answer to come up with. Hearing that would put a huge dent in my confidence of the build process. That just reeks of disorganization.

Lots of people have this problem. Be thankful, though -- lots of people who ordered in May still haven't had VINs assigned or builds scheduled yet.

There are a number of us who are in a similar situation. The quick facts as we know them are as follows -

1) these cars were all ordered as "dealer inventory" cars, meaning the intent was to have them available for dealers to sell to the general public
2) a number of the cars built during the first few weeks (Aug 28 to Sep 22) have been pulled by Ford for quality reasons and no longer for sale
3) these cars, being early units, have been on quality hold since that time, in some cases potentially needing to be re-fitted or repaired to meet the full standard for cars built after Sep 22
4) there are varying informal reports about some of these cars being damaged by weather, some being scrapped, some needing paint work, etc.

I've started a thread where we've been tracking some of these early cars. In my case, a car I was going to buy one that was built on Sep 9 and is still not delivered to the dealer. No firm word on whether or not it will be happen or when it would.

Oddly enough, I live in Deer Park area of Cincinnati, OH, so from one Deer Parker to another, hang in there. You can read in the "Order | Price | Tracking" subforum for other details.

Man that's tough. I just ordered recently so I don't have anything yet. Still waiting. But I do think it's bs. I'd want to make sure that the issue is resolved before it's delivered to me though. However, you'd think that it shouldn't take as long as you've been waiting. Hope it gets worked out for you!

Ordered my LE WW #381 on May 20th. Dealer confirmed that it was built on Oct. 14th and that it's ETA is Nov. 5th.
