Hello all I just got my catback exhaust this week to go along with the Stainless Power Long tubes I purchased a month back during their 20% off sale. I finally had a little time this weekend to myself and started to work on the car. I installed a BMR driveshaft loop, CB005 and BK054 which only took about 2 hours total since I am fortunate enough to have a full size lift in my garage. That brings me to this post. I pulled out the passenger cat convertor, airbox, battery box, and starter in prep to do the headers. I have watched CJ Pony parts video on the long tube install. In there they make it appear like all 8 header nuts are removed from underneath which they would have to do since they removed the motor mounts and are supporting the motor from underneath. It would seem to me it would be easier to get to all the top bolts from above. Seeing as a lot of you have installed these without the aid of a lift I would like your opinions on if you had to remove the motor mounts either way and how you would go about it if you had access to a lift. Thanks for taking the time to read.

You will need to remove the motor mount brackets, not the actual motor mounts. Not sure why CJ takes the motor mounts mounted on the frame?? Do one side at a time. There was a couple of bolts on both passenger and driver's side that are easier to get to from up top. Especially the one on the passenger side top, by the a/c compressor. 15mm swiveling, ratchet wrench is your best friend.

So are most people leaving the OEM bolt near the a/c line intact and replacing all others on the passenger side? Also is it possible to leave the OEM bolts intact on the drivers side or will they all have to be replaced?

Leave the front passenger and front drivers bolt in place. All others come out. No way to get the headers in there with the stock bolts in.
