In process of getting OTT painted. The sides I’m just going to retape but with better stuff so there aren’t breaks in the line. Painting the side stripes would have basically tripled the cost of the paint job so I didn’t find it cost effective. The side stripes touch the entire rocker panel, the doors, and the front quarters. In order to do that correctly would involve their removal and reclearing the entire panel. That with the over the top stripes is pretty much doing the entire car, short of the rear quarters which also extend to the a pillers. I’ll get pics whenever it gets done. 30 days after is when I’ll do the PPF and ceramic.Has anyone gotten their stripes/side decals painted? If so please post some pics.
When I had the PPF done on mine the installer initially wanted to PPF over the stripes, so I asked him to do a small portion and send me a picture first. The bubble gap was too big for my liking so I told him to use the Xpels GT350 pre-cut stripe kit. He did an awesome job, as I have a hard time finding the lines. Makes for a cleaner install. They taped off the stripes (see photo) during paint correction.
As for PPF - I did full front, mirrors, rocker panels and rear quarter (he threw that in). Full car is pricey and, even according to the shop, really not necessary.
Now for the stripes. I did NOT remove them which means you WILL see a thin air line since PPF goes over them. This would be unbearable on a dark car, but it’s ok (for me) on this color. I took it back yesterday for them to try and push even more air out and I’m going back again in a couple weeks for more. So just know there will be a thin line.
That’s awesome! Same here. That's great feedback on the 350 Xpel Kit. My installer never mentioned that but I'm going to call Xpel directly now. That's prob the best way to for me to install and not have to worry about the stripes. A couple things to mention about the precut kits. Some pieces have very little overlap. The cutout that goes around the GT350 emblem on the fenders is not a close cut out and you can see the gap around the emblem. Apparently that is the way the kit is cut. My previous 19R did not have it, so I imagine the installer did not use the precut kit on the fenders. I would speak with your installer on the before mentioned areas. You may have read some owners choose a Matte PPF over the stripes to present a more even look, but that is not needed on the Heritage stripes. Are the heritage stripes on a “R” not matte as all other Rs?A couple things to mention about the precut kits. Some pieces have very little overlap. It is my understanding the Guardmans Blue Stripes are gloss in color, regardless of the model. The regular R stripes for 2020 and previous years I believe were all done on matte. This is why some owners selected the Stealth/Matte PPF over those stripes to present a more even look. Are the heritage stripes on a “R” not matte as all other Rs?
I thought GT350s have gloss stripes and GT350Rs have matte stripes?
Thank you in advance

Interesting... LR106 and LR142 just delivered and there’s that much difference in chassis numbers. They must be churning out a lot of HEP R’s in the past few weeks.
