  • Heritage Edition Package available on 2020 Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT350R models features a unique throwback livery with Wimbledon White paint and Guardsman Blue side and over-the-top racing stripes
  • Car’s classic styling is a tribute to Carroll Shelby’s historic 1965 fastback coupe that helped establish the GT350 brand
  • Heritage Edition Package is available for ordering at Ford dealers now, with production starting in early 2020; package adds $1,965 to 2020 Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT350R MSRP
DEARBORN, Mich., Dec. 19, 2019 – A year before Ken Miles set lap records at Le Mans in Ford’s famed GT40, the noted race car driver and engineer made waves on the track in the first 1965 Mustang Shelby GT350 fastback coupe. Ford is celebrating this legacy 55 years later with a new limited-edition 2020 Mustang Shelby GT350 Heritage Edition Package.

Miles made Shelby GT350 an instant legend when he drove it to victory at Green Valley Raceway in Texas on Feb. 14, 1965. Since then, the Shelby GT350 has been a Mustang icon.

For 2020, Ford is producing a limited run of Heritage Edition fastbacks finished in classic Wimbledon White with Guardsman Blue side and over-the-top race stripes in a nod to the 1965 GT350 competition model developed by Carroll Shelby. The United States has sported blue and white as its assigned international racing colors since the 1950s. Additional Heritage Edition cues include front and rear exterior badges finished in Guardsman Blue and a unique dash badge inside. GT350R models will feature all-black seats with red accent stitching.

“Looking back on it, what Ford and Carroll Shelby created back in the mid-’60s was so important to Mustang,” said Jim Owens, Ford Mustang marketing manager. “With their authentic exterior livery, unique appointments and performance Ken could have only dreamed of, the Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT350R Heritage Edition Package vehicles are a meaningful tribute to the legacy of the Shelby brand.”

The throwback Heritage Edition Package comes a year after Shelby GT350 received a host of upgrades. These include revised front chassis geometry for improved steering feel, plus revised antilock braking and MagneRide™ tuning for optimized aerodynamic components resulting in improved ride, stability and handling for both road and track. Shelby GT350R gets a redesigned high-trail steering knuckle leveraged from the all-new Shelby GT500 for 2020. It also features a new steering rack and recalibrated electric power steering control.

The 2020 Mustang Shelby GT350 has a starting MSRP of $60,440, plus taxes, title, delivery and license fees; GT350R has a starting MSRP of $73,435, plus taxes, title, delivery and license fees. The Heritage Edition Package is available for $1,965. Dealers are taking orders for Heritage Edition Package vehicles now, with cars slated to ship this spring. Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT350R are proudly built with foreign and domestic parts at Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Flat Rock, Michigan.

Now the thread about the Heritage option package a member saw on the NADA site makes sense. I would love to get this but I am sure the dealers will continue to rape and pillage their customer base with ADMs.

Well deserved to honor Ken Miles’ work on the first GT350 Competition model aka GT350R, 5R002.

(pictures of actual 5R002 developed by Ken Miles, Bob Bondurant and driven to the 1965 B-Production Championship by Jerry Titus)

For performance mustangs, this was genesis: the car that gave the mustang its fangs.

If anyone is still paying an ADM for a GT350 or GT350R, then they need to do a better job of shopping around. I paid $5K over MSRP for my 2016 GT350R that was ordered when the banks opened in 2015 and took delivery of in January of 2016.

I was surprised the press shots didn't use #98 since that was the OG that this heritage edition is based on.

Probably because of money. It took 45 million in insurance to get 5R002, the 1965 Ken Miles Ford GT40 MKII, and the 1964 FIA championship winning Cobra Daytona to Gardena for the Shelby Reunion.

Car looks great. Love the guardsman blue emblems to match the stripes. Kind of wish the wheels had adopted an anthracite style finish to more closely match the wheels in use by the race teams at the time.

I'm pissed. THIS is the car I wanted when I ordered my 2016 white/blue. I really thought since they had offered a Wimbledon white 50th anniversary model, the GT350s would have been offered in WW also. I love this combo...just wish they had done it earlier in the run.

Now these are stripes I can live with! If everyone wants to donate to me to get a car I'll be sure to take pictures of it for the forum:like:

Hence why they are doing it now. Sales are slowing for the GT350 so they need to get them going again.
