Okay, got them installed. They light up fine with a 9V battery. However, I’m not sure I’m tapping into the correct wire.

instructions say it’s a grey with violet stripe.

as usual with car wiring, colors are kinda odd. The only grey with what I think is violet is a much thinner wire than the others. Does that sound right? Afraid it’s going to cut the wire in half if I use a wire tap.

Thanks.

Gonna revisit this. For the life of me last night, I could not find the grey/violet stripe wire. Decided to come back to it this morning. If this is something you’re working on, it might prove helpful.

After carefully looking through the wires in the large plug-in with the blue latch, just beside the interior fuse box, I found the wire. It was in the very center of the cluster of wires. After working with the cluster (unplugged) I was able to get enough free space to use a wire splice to get it all connected. I did have to ground each sill to get them both to work. Just ran a wire across under the dash and under the trim to connect power.

End result was worth it. Wish Ford just prewired all their cars for these options.

For future reference, if you have trouble finding the wire by color then go by pin number. The pin numbers are stamped on the connector, either front or back. Failing that, if you have an image like your first post, just orient the plug like the picture and count to the correct pin.

Tried doing that, but the plug on my 2020 was slightly different looking to me than the diagram in the pic. Thanks for the info. That would have been my next move.

My car came with these but my driver's side one has stopped working a long time ago. Need to take it in to get fixed.
