So, Ive had a couple guys ask why I dont use or try Ignite red or some other form of race E85 like C85 or E85R. Figured Ill ask to see what experiences you guys have had. Car is currently tuned by Lund on E85, sees 21.8* up top and Im happy with it. I have a gas station I can consistently get 85-87% Ethanol. So has anyone used any other ethanol fuel with success based on its quality alone? Not talking about tuning it more aggresively on the new fuel, mostly speaking drop it in tank on current tune and go. Thanks.

If you've got good reliable pump E there's no point. Can it potentially make a tiny bit more power? Probably, but so expensive and hassle.

You can mix your own fuel for waaaayyy cheaper.
Make small test batches and send them off to fuel labs to compare against what you have.
10-12% ethyl acetate by volume gets you +4 to 5 octane w pump E85!
If you have a return style fuel system, it gives you monster advantages on keeping fuel from separating long term.
Meth spray is effective as well and can be setup as cost effectively adjunct to fuel only when needed by throttle/rpm/load etc.

Ethyl acetate works best mixed into fuel instead of sprayed as it greatly increases E85 stability.

Meth spray + EA + E85 is very cost effective.

93oct setups can use ethyl acetate and xylene to get 100+ oct lab results.

Once an engineer sees you are trying to make your own fuel, they are often more than happy to share their knowledge if you listen.

I get what you mean. Most times you can make something better and cheaper if you do it yourself. More so wondering if anyone has any data to validate that ignite should make 3-5% more power than pump E85 based on its make up which allows more complete burn blah blah blah im sure you guys have heard the adverticements.

I drop in Boostane Professional. Get it to 97 which they (Boostane) claim the Mustang will adjust timing for. Anything more than 97 without a tune is a waste according to them. I can't tell a difference, except more crackle and pops, but I'm still getting used to the additional power with boost. Im sure if I took it to the track it would perform a little better. All of the reviews and tests I've read said it will give you at least 10hp increase without a tune

Yes I use Torco or Octanium when I use pump gas. This thread is about Ethanol fuels, though.

I think the issue is. Some sources don't actually live up to the E85 billing. My source. Has been consistent in the e80-85 range. So there is no gains to be made by spending more money. I heard some stations selling as low as e50.

The only difference on the drum stuff is the other 15%. Better additive package? probably. more reliable? probably. Max effort deal ya it's worth it. Most of the ignite, ftw, renegade use oxygenated gasoline for the other 15%.

I think RBS550 did some testing and picked up a little from one brand to the other.

A good example of how awesome E85 is our small tire race car just tore down the engine after 100 passes and the bearings look brand new. We use Renegade E85 with air to ice water intercooler at about 35 pounds of boost. The bearings are an excellent indicator of rod load. Clean bearings means no knock/preignition at all. As soon as they all came out beautiful I says we need to add some timing LOL!

A guy I know here in Australia has used/does use c85.
The local e85 tests at or above 85%, sometimes up to 91%
Car is NA so YMMV.
His results both on the dyno and at the strip, seem to indicate that there is a subtle difference.
For the average user, the “bang for your buck” side of the equation wouldn’t make any sense.
For him, it’s all about being the fastest NA manual S550 in the world.

Ken mentions in a video that on a 1000whp Whipple coyote running pump E85, it gained 35whp with no changes, just drain one fuel and add the other. Ignite 114

I tried ignite, renegade, and vp. I didn’t see any big difference in my dyno or track results. Unless you’re a max effort guy it’s not really worth it if you have access to consistent pump e85. In Ohio we only get true e85 about 6-8 months out of the year
