FORD's poor quality = lemon cars!

I am reading still in the background to see if FORD will step in to get this things fixed. After all my years now, I had never ever a car like that. I had everything on that car you name it. But still I thought I would love it to drive around. But after I did see the body shop guy grinding the edges off the trunk lid to get them straight, plus the rear windows cut out without telling me, the feeling of having a brand new - was gone. Lose leather covers, the TSB on the brakes, the measurements on the floor far out of FORD's provided measurement documents, poor stamped body panels - was the end of the love story. Lucky me - the dealer did buy the car back.

Reading icarumba's posts only shows, that there are more FORD lemons out on the roads. Do I think that FORD will do something about it? No! Not at all....

I have completely lost my confidence in Ford myself. I am still astonished by the barrage of issues, no matter how small they are or major, throughout this new mustang line. I was super excited about the car, the wait to receive it, and the reward of finally driving it. As it turns out, I have owned her for less than 4 months, driven her less than 3 months, and currently paying the car note of a mustang to drive a Hyundai loaner the past 20 odd some days. My car is in the shop, with a bad block, waiting to be serviced. Is this fair for a BRAND new car? When I get it back what is left of the "brand new" car is mostly nothing. The engine has been ripped apart, god knows how parts will be put back and what quality control I am to have... I can go on for ages, but the "magic" is definitely gone for me.

My son, wife & I all think the S550 Mustang is the best looking inside & out plus the best ride of any Mustang. When they 1st came out we went to 5 different dealerships all in one day & saw 50+ Mustangs & drove all versions except the V6. We were surprised at the poor quality control (even for Ford) seen on the Mustangs.

I had issues with all 3 of the S197 Mustangs I've had. Ford took care of most of the issues on my 2006. My 2010 was so problem plagued that it wasn't safe to drive. Even with a fuel leak & a caliper that would randomly grab & put the car one lane to the left if you didn't have a death grip on the wheel Ford would not authorize any repairs. Ford did replace the side marker light they melted off the car from constant exposure to fuel. The last time I took the 2010 in for additional issues I told the service manager I would not pick up the car until it was safe to drive. The dealer which I have bought several cars from ended up buying back my 18 month old car for $1,000 less than what I bought it for.

Took my 2013 Mustang in for weak brakes & the ABS wasn't working. The best 60-0 braking I could get was 140ft. I got the typical Ford response "That's normal". I ended up flushing the brake lines & some black chucky stuff came out. ABS started working again & my 60-0 dropped to 113 ft.

I have no faith in Ford standing behind their product & many threads on this forum alone reinforce that. I do want a GT350 but I'll wait until they are out for a bit to see if Ford can put it together correctly.

Deysha - Thanks, but my CSM has already taken it as far as he can. I am now in arbitration with the BBB to get this disaster straightened out.

Regarding the typos...is there anything else you would like me to review for you guys?
You’re welcome, icarumba. It’ll all get straightened out.

You may also go through the whole owner’s manual and check for punctuation and grammar as well.

I guess we share some of the same defective DNA, because I'm still interested in the Mustang! I've been driving a GTI for the last couple of years, and I really like it but I'd like to try something else.

Been wanting to get another pony / muscle car for the last couple of years. The 15 Challenger is a great car, with the updated interior and the addition of the 8 speed auto, but it's just so BIG. At least to me the Mustang has a level of refinement over the Challenger that I prefer. I was not a huge fan of the Gen 5 Camaro, but I am intrigued by the Gen 6. I like that you can get the V6 with the premium RS package with the 8 speed auto.

So I'm going to wait a couple months until I can see the Gen 6 in person and test drive it back to back with the Mustang. My Dad used to work for Ford so I get Z-Plan pricing (which is a big plus for the Mustang), but I really just want to end up with the best car for me and if that means dropping a couple extra bucks thankfully I'm in a position where I can do that.

Understood. I am convinced that liking Mustangs is a mild form of retardation. My other Mustang was crap too, but I somehow convinced myself that that was a fluke, and that I wouldn't have those problems again. Sigh...I guess my ex wife was right about me being short bus special...

So anyone who likes Mustangs now has a mental defect? What I see is 20 people out of 100,000 complaining on here over how the car they bought is the worst car ever made in the history of autos. They qualify it with remarks like they've had cars for 40 years and never had one so bad. 90% of the problems these people list are not even really issues. The other 10% are problems that are to be expected by some portion of cars and that's why you have a warranty. Some of the complaints about panel gaps are ridiculous. A few photos I've seen are bad, but most are just normal gaps you see on any mass produced car and I am very picky. I notice small things, but they are small to me and I don't sweat it.

Squeaky brakes? Are you kidding me? Maybe you should get a Corvette, or Mercedes, or BMW, or wait - those cars have squeaky brakes too. My pleather is too soft and was deformed when an adult put all their weight on a child seat in the car. My paint got road rash or chipped when rocks hit it. Orange peel. Electrical/software issues. Transmission thud.

For people that have claimed to own performance cars, I can't believe these complaints. I've only owned 5 cars, a couple motorcycles, and two of those were performance cars. All of my vehicles have had these traits. If they were bad, the dealer repaired, it not, I just lived with it.

The fact is you bought an econo sports car. It is actually good quality for the price and cars costing 3-5 times as much will still have all these issues. Maybe they should create an anti Mustang forum that you 20 or so can join and talk about how "retarded" all mustang owners are. Oh yeah, there is already a forum for that - camaro6.com:thumbsup:

That is absolutely unacceptable! Check your state lemon law, but I believe that if your car has been out of service for 30 calendar days, you are entitled to replacement or repurchase. And please keep us posted on your progress (or lack thereof).

Bookmark page 196 of your owner's manual; that outlines the hoops you must jump through. And remember, that address for the Customer Relationship Center is wrong; the correct address is:

Ford Motor Company
Customer Relationship Center
PO Box 6248
Dearborn, MI 48126

I assume they will begin with intimidation and ridicule, and if you don't back down, next will come more hoops. They count on most people getting disgusted and fed up with the long process, and dropping the case at some point before it is resolved. If enough people see it through, MAYBE they will realize that we are not as dumb as we look, and that they need to step up and get their shit together. Or not.

Sincerely,
Norma Rae
