Hello! Long time lurker and finally made an account!
If anybody could help me with problems pertaining to my car it would be very great because I have never gone through this process before.
I own a 2015 Ford Mustang V6 which I bought around December. Car is fantastic and everything was fine, up until these past few weeks. The car started misfiring around July for no apparent reason. I took it into the shop to get it checked but everything came out okay and there was no problems on the car. They also said they could not do anything unless a check engine came up on the dash. It took them one day of checking and they just left the work order open. When I received my car and took it home everything ran fine. The next day again I started having problems but this time it was worse. The misfires were extreme and the check engine came up. The misfires did not stop so I turned the car off, waited a few minutes, and turned the car on again. I took it straight to the dealer still misfiring here and there and they started to work on the car. After a week of sitting in the shop they called me and told me that the car was having random misfires and that they would have to come and have an engineer look at it and assess the problem. It has now been 36 days and they have told me that they are going to do an engine swap on the vehicle and that's not what I want. The car is never the same and I would much rather have a completely new Mustang. Now I started to file out the lemon law forms and I have to send a letter to the manufacture with proof that the car has been in the shop but the problem is since the work order was left open, they cannot give me any invoice or work order form saying what they did to the car and stuff of that nature. Another problem is that since they left the work order open it only shows that I came into the shop once for the 36 days and lemon law requires I took the car into the shop for two days because it causes a serious hazard to my well being.
So now that you know all of that, can anybody please help me out with this process because I don't know how to go by this and get this done asap because I have a full time job and also going to university and I need my car.
Side note: what about my payments to my car? does that get reimbursed?
Thank you so much for the help

Has the dealership provided a loaner vehicle while your Mustang has been in the shop?

Why do you want a whole new car if they are willing to give you a whole new engine? Its part of the warranty that they give you on the car and ford seems to be fulfilling it by offering you a new motor. Its easy to say "well I want a new car just because" but it just pushes Ford to avoid that scenario even more for somebody that may really need it due to dealer error/dealer damage or something along those lines.

Take the engine. At what point do you say I don't want that, I want a new car. Is it an intake, a fuel cell, or this. I know these examples are extreme, but it sounds like Ford is willing to fix the issue. Plus...as long as the work is done and done right the car will be fine. Just because you do an engine swap doesn't mean it's any less of a car. Good luck to ya tho!

Take the new engine. Ford is doing engineering analysis on the stuff they take back, (including cylinder heads from ecoboosts that have fouled intake valves). You're improving the breed :ford::thumbsup:

Thanks guys, I am going to go through with the engine swap as you all have suggested. It's just I have never been through this kind of scenario before. Many of my co-workers have suggested to go through with the following lemon law but I just wanted more opinions before I actually go through with it.
I would think it makes sense anyways, new engine, 0 miles.

And yes, I pushed for a loaner vehicle as I had no other means of getting to places.
They were hesitant of giving me one at first but I had to press them given the status of the car

Call Ford Customer Service and ask to speak with the local Ford Customer Service rep. At the very least, they can give you an Extended Service Plan for free for peace of mind. I worked for Ford for several years as a rep...just insist they put you in touch with the local rep.
