Hey, on a stock setup with 10.5" and 11" by 19" wheels, has anyone tried mounting 315 in the front and 325 in the rear? It appears that the tire weight and diameter is roughly the same, but an extra 1/2" of bite can't hurt if there is not a clearance issue. Anyone??

I’m running 325 on the rears with no issues, and I think you can run the 315 up front, don’t quote me though.

It’s probably going to poke on the fronts. 325’s out back is no problem. Maybe a different offset? @50 Deep can it be done with minimal poke?

I checked out different brands, and there are slight differences in dimensions all in the same size. It will be an expensive crap shoot if I choose the unwisely. Guess I could mount the current 315's on the front to check it out. All time consuming though. Thanks for the reply.

this would be an exercise in futility. A 10.5/11 wide wheel isn’t wide enough to support a 315/325 tire. You would need to be running an 11.5/12 to properly fill out and take advantage of that much tire. Imagine wearing a sock too big for the foot it’s going on.

it will physically work, but the tire will bulge over the ends of the rim and make handling sloppy. Also making the tire potentially poke out past the rim.

No performance advantage gained here

I have 305 on the front and 325 rear with no issues or bulging. PS4S all the way around.

Have you fit a 11.5 up front on a standard car? I think I saw you did do a 12 on a 350 right? My gut is telling an 11 is all you are going to get on an M1 with out the front fenders being wider like on the 350/500

11.5 on the front work be pushing it here. Camber required.

but In most situations you can offset for a narrower tire size with more aggressive tire compound.

It really depends on the goal for the car and build.

The only reason I am running 325 on 11" at the rear is because I couldn't find 315 in the PS4S at the time. It works fine for me and even on the track (when in the wet). When these wear out I will for sure hunt for 315 which is a much better fit than 325 on 11" wheels.

The same here, when I purchased my tires the 325 were in stock and cheaper than the 315. I think the fitment of the Continentals are close from 315 to 325, they look square with the wheel.

This is all great info gentlemen. Thank you! Yeah, if you even look at the gt350s with the same size wheels as the M1 with HP, It looks like they stretched the crap out of the tires to make 295's and 305's fit on the wheels. Yet somehow with what I would call undersized tires, allowed the cars to handle well. Obviously there is some leeway here.

I enjoy threads like this and full well realize that you guys are talking about increasing tire sizes to achieve a specific purpose or get a particular look. I get it and think it’s cool.

But the more I drive my 22-23 Mach 1s the more I come to think Ford got the entire car right from the get. It’s not perfect; no car is but for a street-only car that regularly touches the limits beyond which lies probable incarceration I don’t see how mine could get any better. Even the HP wouldn’t help me one bit since there’s nowhere to toss it any harder than I do and I’m too old for the big spoiler. And I already have to pay attention to keep the chin from scraping since I roll 100% in track mode.

We’re pretty lucky.

Sir, that is great perspective. Besides the fact that all of us have other things we can or should be spending money on, we are lucky. If you put it all into a nutshell, I guess it is all a big distraction from life's hardships.
I started my driving experiences in the 70's with old cars; like a '66 coupe/289, and a '67 fastback/390. I can still close my eyes and be transported right back there. Perhaps that is what I am doing playing with my new M!.
Just buying a few minutes of childhood again... You can't see it, but I'm smiling at the thought.
Cheers,

You are so very right!

Iā€˜m absolutely certain that my Mustangs transport me back to more youthful days and have no problem admitting it. If I could drive my Mach with my eyes closed I could easily be back at the wheel of my ā€˜69 Z-28. It was always one of my favorites.
