This. I just used 3M double side tape and cut it to fit with a razor. He used adhesive backed tape. You can use this or normal super glue to attach it. I would highly suggest the tape though as it would be removable without damaging the ring or the center stack bezel.
Will take one for you!Looking good hawkbox! Any close-ups of the engraved image? I'm curious to see how yours came out.
Oof, that is a LARGE piece to 3D print from Shapeways. Would not be cheap. If you want to evolve from the ring thing -- you already printed the bezel for the MFT screen, right? How hard would it be to replicate the bezel that goes underneath for all of the HVAC and start button, but with a built in hinge for your start button cover? That way it seems OEM, you get away from having to use double sided tape, eliminate the extra thickness of the ring, and technically you can still remove the whole panel if you desire to return to factory.
Just a thought. The biggest hoop would be getting the finish to match the OEM finish in both texture & color/sheen. How close is your MFT bezel to matching?
Looks awesome! I'm glad the text is coming out well!Got mine in today. Looks good! I might get the black ring as well depending on how it looks on the car. Will probably also white in the letters and put on a clear coat to smooth it all out...

Haha well a decent commercial grade 3D printer is upwards of $100k so it would be quite awhile before that option would become more economical! While I could build a full bezel for the start cover its not practical to do so. That $30 cover would easily turn into $200.Gotta pay to play. At the rate he is going, he may find it more economical to start his own 3d printing business and take a loan out on a printer.
