my order was placed 9/6 early morning. It shows as In Production now, the first time I have logged in since ordering. Will I benefit from increased depth?

Depends in what stage your order is in. Processing orders when I changed the depth might benefit from it (up to shapeways to change the model...). In production orders when I changed it will most likely not receive the update.

The detail plastic turned out nicely. I imagine with the power light on behind it it will look good.

You mean embossed detail? That is an option yes but its one or the other. The site does not let me combine them.
