I honestly think they're badass, but the few cars that i have seen aftermarket lambo doors on seemed like very low quality. Always seemed to be fitment issues, or they made noise etc.

I hear that no matter what "kit" you go with they always end up breaking

I put a pair on my race car because I can.

You're not fixing up your car for others (well, for your son is kinda cool :) ), so do what you want. These cars are already so heavy, adding lambo doors isn't a weight factor, purely personal preference.

What I really want, though, are to put sliding minivan doors on the s550, that would be cool.

I always thought a gull wing door conversion on a glass topped mustang would be a pretty unique idea.

I think they are cool, but I've never seen a car with them in person. I would also never put them on my car. I guess it depends on how well they are pulled off and if they are durable and work well.

I think sometimes when the crowd all says one thing I just can't make myself go along with them. When I think about having Lambo doors on my car I think it would be embarrassing to open them up in public, so maybe I shouldn't say I think they are cool.

Probably easier to get in and out of the car in a tight parking space, though. You have to please yourself. Don't worry so much about what other people think. (I assume) you are out of high school now. No need to follow the crowd any more.

They look awesome on Lamborghinis. If done nicely I don't see a problem with them.
