First, I want to apologize if this has already been covered but I haven't seen anything.

KW V3s for our cars; does anyone know the spring rate on these? When I first looked at them, they appeared to be a progressive spring. But under closer examination, they appear to be a dual rate spring in the front. Does anyone have these or know for certain what the spring rate is?
Thanks in advance.

They are progressive springs.

The fronts are 227-248lbs
Rear is 876-1025lbs.

That is what I was told by kw rep.

I had it on my 16 gt and they were awesome coilovers. They absolutely do not drive like progressive springs. Plus adjust your compression is a big plus. The car drove incredibly tight with the kw.

Also, they are offering $350 rebate on the v3 coilovers until end of May.

That's a pretty light progression. Rates are just about perfect (they sit very nice relative to my 240/980 setup).

Interesting...those are a lot softer than I thought they would be. I've always wondered why they went with progressive springs as well. Aren't linears supposed to be better for track use?

Yes, generally, but that's a very mild progressive. They're still a lot stiffer than the PP1 165 lb/in and 728 lb/in.

They are definitely an improvement but I was expecting 300 lb/in area.
I was considering the Steeda adjustable shocks and their dual rate springs but thought the KW V3s would give me more room to grow into. No doubt KW knows what they're doing but those rates do seem on the soft side compared to the rest of the market.

Well you could probably get some 2.5" coilover springs of your rate choice for the front pretty easily if you wanted a 350-400 lb front.

The front uses the factory top mounts so changing out the spring is not possible.

The club sport coilovers are 420lbs up front if you are looking for something with more rate.

Does KW make their own rear top mounts or caster/camber plates? Otherwise, I guess Vorshlag parts would work with the V3 coilovers?

Clubsport comes with front camber plates that completely replaces your factory mount.

You can use after market camber plates on v3 but not clubsport.

Good to know, thank you.
I'm still deciding if I want to shell out the money for the V3s or just go cheaper Steeda route.

I run Vorshlag camber plates on my V3s with 60mm race springs and the appropriate adapter for the KW strut with race spring upper perch. In the rear you can run many different springs but I'm happiest now with the Steeda DR rear springs. In front I've run from 350-550 lb springs. Currently have 550 lb springs installed.

I think there are better options for the price especially if the intent is to autox or track the car.

In your opinion, what are those better options?
My car is my grocery getter and my track car. That being said, the two paths I was looking at are:

KW V3, Vorshlag CC plates & rear top mounts = $3300

Steeda adjustables, DR springs, CC plates, rear mounts, bump stops = $1500

No doubt the KW path is better but the Steeda path might work just fine for me and leave me money for another set of tires

If it were me, I'd take a strong look at the Ohlins R&T from hotpart.com. Can either use Ohlins standard rates or custom rates through them.
