Check engine light. If you're not looking for power, then don't worry about LTs.
What I meant is the HP difference between catted and non-catted is not a deal breaker for me.

So from what I gathered they claim the Green cats are emission legal in 49 states and don't require a tune or throw codes. The green cars are almost $400 more than the race cats. I went with the race cats personally.
There's no emission laws or regulations where I live so that's not my concern. If I don't require a tune, and I won't get CHECK ENGINE LIGHT then I guess it's a good thing. Even though it'll be cheaper to get a tune.

Off road headers will have a stronger exhaust smell. I kind of like it:headbang:
I'm not sure if I'll like it really. So I don't wanna take a risk since it'll be more expensive to add the catted connection later.

Those Kooks "Green Cats" are stupid expensive and still throw CEL's thus needing the rear o2's off.

Long tube headers will make your exhaust a little louder. I always run chatted systems and they will cause a check engine light. There are tuners out there that can tune for headers to pass emissions as long as your state is only doing an OBD2 check. If you have a visual or sniffer test you will still fail.

It seems like the GREEN catted has less emissions as compared to the normal or race catted. And if that's the only difference then I'll probably go with the normal catted LTHs since there are no emission restrictions where I live. I would go with off road but I'm worried about the exhaust smell, so I'd much rather keep the cats.

Regarding the tuning, is it only required to remove the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT or also to see actual gains that these LTHs have to offer? And will this affect the warranty just like any tune?

You will be running lean without the proper tune, throwing excess fuel into race cats will drastically reduce their life span. Also, forward O2 sensors are a bit farther away then the stock placement, a tune will account for that.

You will also burn up your O2 sensors as well throwing extra fuel down there with more heat.

Max perf will come from the offroad headers, one of the biggest things to consider is emmissions and resell.

offroad will typically be a little louder, but not much difference than catted

headers will intesify / louden whatever sound you have

you will almost def get a check engine light with headers, but the car will adjust a/f ratio over time with it's ability to add / pull fuel

we have catted and not catted available in just about every brand if you need any help

Hey Terry,

When you say we will get a check engine light, will that be something Lund can clear? Will the Check engine light go away on its own? I don't want to drive around with my check engine light on all the time.

yes, a tune will clear it,

i was speaking if you were running headers with no tune

I'm currently running Borla ATAK 2.5", which one will perform better with LTHs, 1 7/8 or 1 3/4? I'm not going to go FI so I feel like the 1 7/8 will be a waste.

1 3/4 will be fine for your setup.

My installer recommended ARH over Kooks. I know both are great quality, and I see a lot of people over here running Kooks, but which one would you choose? They are both similarly priced.

Im adding a whipple (on order as we speak) and to not have headers is leaving
a shit ton of power on the table im sure of it ,I have a 3" MFComp cat back im thinking I need
a set of off road long tubes ,3" no cats /no bottle neck since my city has no inspections .
Would the noise be upsetting ? The Cat back is already pretty loud but any loader and ill want put a needle in my eye

Before I bought my Mustang, I really didn't know I would be spending that much money on mods, I actually never thought about modifying the car in any way. And here I am, looking for more. It is most certainly a disease.

Anyway, the only mods I've done so far is a catback exhaust and lowering springs. I'm in the market for a CAI as well. And now I'm considering LTHs.

I've read as much as I could here, but somehow I still couldn't find exactly what I'm looking for. First of all, I chose to go with Kooks Headers, why? I couldn't find any bad reviews about them, and it seems like headers is the company's specialty.

My questions are:
a) What's exactly the difference between Catted and Off Road? How does it affect the sound, and overall gains?
b) Difference between Catted and GREEN Catted? (This seems to be offered only from Kooks, and there's a price difference of about $500).
c) Do I need to get a tune if I chose to go with the Catted?
d) I currently have the Borla ATAK and there's no drone, will adding the headers change that?

Also, please note that this is my DD, and I use it for absolutely everything.

**Where I live, a brand new car doesn't need inspection or testing for registration renewal for the first 3 years. You just pay the renewal fees, that's all.**

Thanks!
A) catted is with catalytic converters that reduces the bad smell that comes from the exhuast, unlike off road when you revv you will be able to smell all the waste. Off road does not have catalytic converters so they usually add 1-3hp more.

B) catted is a high flow catalytics. Green, by the name itself “green”, it keeps the emission green. Environmental friendly; So the flow is slower than normal catted. So green would probably has the lowest horse powers out of them all but not noticeable. Difference between green and off road is alot probably 5-6 hp while normal catted to off road 3hp difference. I recommend for a high flow catted not green and not off road.

C) you always need tune for whatever headers you going with. The purpose of the headers is not about “green, off road, or catted. Headers itself when connected to the engine it has bigger holes therefore bigger flow. Without a proper tune you will be damaging the engine since the engine is now confused how much waste flow it should take out from the engine.

D) if you bought kooks with x pipe then yes drone is definitely there. X pipe or h pipe will delete resonators; purpose of keeping drones away. Kooks headers alone won’t have that much of a drone affect especially when cruising.

Side note make sure to check your borla atak exhaust size (2.5” or 3”). Kooks will only fit 3 inches. If you got 2.5 inches then search for adapters.
