koni sport disintegration

was planning a track day in a couple weeks. went to adjust the rear shock damping on the koni yellows for the first time. pulled the rubber cap off and found the adjustment tab completely disintegrated from rust on both rears which are only 4 years old. both fronts were fine. live in midwest so salty roads but this seems pretty abnormal. anyone else with this issue?

I purchased silicone vacuum caps from Amazon, covered the adjusters in Boeshield, and zip tied the caps on so tight they have to be threaded on. It’s the only way. Sorry for your loss.

if it makes your feel better, full soft is probably the right adjustment for those rear shocks. To avoid that the butt pre maturely loses traction.

its a Very poor design, agree. i plan to apply a healthy dab of vaseline and then cap.

12 mm caps are what I purchased, they were looser than I would have liked. I would recommend trying a 7/16 inch cap.
