Good day all!!

As an ex s197 owner, thinking of getting back into a Mustang I thought I'd join up here. I am really considering a 2018 model now as the Orange is coming back!! Ok, I know, it's not exactly the same as competition Orange, but it's pretty close!!

I am questioning a couple of issues in my mind with the '18model?? What does the new front actually look like?, is it GT350 esque?? The other question is"When can I order one"???

Regards

Gloucester.....Nigel.....Orange S197.......remind me of your old username on s197.co.uk ;)

On sale? Probably not until April in the US....with deliveries around May/June.

If you place an order now, it will "officially" be for a '17MY, but your build will pretty much be an '18 as our orders take 6 months minimum from placing order to build date

As for the looks....no one has seen it, but it'll be at the Detroit show on January 9th :)

Hi TT.

My old username is Nigelr32. I was gonna get a '17 GB GT but actually decided that I just love Orange too much.

Yes I'm the nutter who bought an Orange S197 new and stripped it!! I may do it again.

Thanks for the info on the '18 MY. I'm keen to see it in the flesh because they may have ruined it?? In that case I'll order a '17 GB GT.

Just one more question?? Is the GT350 coming here or is it possible to buy the GT350 front end in the aftermarket?

Ah, of course!

I don't think they'll ruin it.......it'll still be instantly recognisable as an S550....just "tweaked". Only a few weeks to wait, and then we'll know for sure :)

We can only hope the GT350 comes here, but I certainly wouldn't hold my breath for one :(

350 aint gonna come... Wish it would. But yes, you can get a 350 fender, and bumper, and the rest, bumper etc, you can get the whole load as a somewhat bodykit to the 'stang.

I'm between a rock and a hard place right now.

So, the 2018 is out soon, and it has a face lifted front end. It also has DI, which is not good in my opinion, but maybe it works well on the coyote?

I was also thinking the option of orange was good, but the Orange Fury ain't no Grabber Orange!!

So, do I go Grabber Blue tomorrow or wait till April and get an '18?

Thanks

Okay, so nobody has an 'effing clue about the 2018, and to be honest, ordering now you stand probably a 50/50 chance of hiting a my18 order regardless, so it's worth putting an order in for GB, if it misses a MY18 slot (it'll be close) then you get a GB my17, if you hit it, you'll get to pull an OF, or another colour out, or you'll be lucky and have a GB MY18.

MY18 bar the colours, and some leaked information (which can't actually be confirmed just yet), is all here-say, so we're all waited with baited breath (and open wallets in the case of some )

First off welcome to the money pit of stangs and mods!

Secondly your not far from me, shout me if you need to look at any mods or a chat etc.

Thirdly life short mate, get a GB now should you wish to move to another year/colour you not going to loose big money.

GB got announced just as mine was about to be built. I tried to change but would have pushed my build back to new order. So stuck with it it. Should they bring out newer colours/spec so be it.

All mods can easy be taken off and put on newer car therefore initial expense can but utilized on your next car.

This is my plan anyway and soz for waffle.

Ps not sure what Grabber orange is but GB with loads of gloss black parts is win win. Cheers

Grabber orange he's infering a joke to 'Orange Fury' which is the new colour replacing GB in the MY18s.

Nigel......you don't like the idea of DI? Is that due to carbon deposits many DI engines suffer from? If so, the Coyote is expected to get direct AND port injection to overcome this. The DI/PI was first seen on the second generation 3.5 Ecoboost V6 engine in the US.

My dislike for DI stems from many reasons, being an engineer and all that!!

The carbon deposits in the back of the valves is one issue, which is major on Di only engines such as the Audi TT rs. No feul mist in the inlet charge results in heavy crap build uo on the valves.

DI requires a strange pocket in the piston crown and combustion chamber. This leads to detonation in anything other than stock engines.

DI means there is a direct path to atmosphere from the combustion chamber via some seals on the DI injectors. This can be a weak link when boosting your engine.

Just my 2p
