have people actually reported issues with the one supplied?
The CHTs will be higher than if you install a Reische. My CHTs average 185 degrees in Tampa, FL. With any of the other 160 t stats my CHTs would average 205 - 210. It is only $69 for a Reische.

its not the $$, $69 after a $8k purchase is peanuts... but it just doesn't make sense why whipple would include "junk" in their kit or something that doesn't work or fails.

just curious. ill be ordering a bunch of stuff today so trying to get a perfected list right now.

Its not "junk" it just that the 170 cools alittle more we have found. Maybe there really isnt any performance benefit with the temp difference maybe its just a feel good thing seeing lower temps.

I PM Dustin at Whipple about this last month. The Even Flow 160 in the Whipple kit is a good thermo stat and works great, however the Reische 170 seems to regulate temps a little better and runs cooler even though its rated 10 degrees higher. I think most of us changed it out only because we always like things to run cooler.

Ok, the Reische t-stat I will be adding here real soon to the order.

Next issue is the catch can/oil separator. There seems to be two good choices that being the Whipple brand and UPR. I'm gonna add one but not sure yet and there doesn't seem to be any info as to why one over the other.
My questions are to those that have either; Do you think it doesn't matter? The UPR one has to be emptied and the Whipple one doesn't as it drains back through the check valve so does this matter? What are the pros and cons to the one you have and how long have you had it? Thanks.

I don't have either but I wish that I had Whipple's. I had a similar setup on my STI and it was really nice not having to empty anything.

The Whipple wins out in form and function. It's the the only one that self drains, brilliant! And on top of that when you actually see one in person you will know why you want it. The quality and look are top notch, it feels solid and is made with quality machining, and with the whipple logos etched into the top it just so belongs.

Exactly why I chose the Whipple separator. I figured if it was good enough for Whipple to design it specifically for their S/C, it was good enough for me.

Ok. Looks like I'll be heading towards the Whipple version. Thanks for the helpful experiences.

Has anyone ever checked the end of the hose that goes into the intake to see if it is oil free? I'm guessing there is no issue with removing the Whipple cap that replaces the factory cap for oil fill/changes.

Buying this via Lethal also gives you the 10% off for this week so anyone wanting it as well might be the time.

The whipple catch can has the same the same slots in it as the stock cap, so it takes I think a 1/4 turn and is seated and its sealed with an o ring.
