I just got done installing the whipple stage 2 kit to my 2016 mustang. I would almost call it fun. I run my own Auto shop and have installed multiple supercharger systems on trucks and cars in past but this system was by far the most complete and OE fit I have ever seen. The build was over the fucking top, like the billet anodized piece just for the evap solenoid was impressive, along with the heat shrink hose clamps and oem covering. The only thing I didn't buy were the 2 electric fans for 400$. I found a pair of 12" fans on ebay for 33$ just gonna mock up brackets and relay which will be easy. anyone else use aftermarket fans for intercooler??

Nice kit for sure I've had mine for a year and found the instal like you very complete. The quality is amazing and you can rest assured Whipple will always have your back with customer support and improvements. You cannot beat the flight control features and calibration enhancements Whipple is always improving on.

Like you I did my own fans, but I used 11" SPAL fans with the same dimensions. Instead of a bracket I used 3/6 rubber cut from heater hose and then used radiator fan pass through zip ties to secure the fans. It worked great becuase the fans are very light. I must admit innthe end I didn't use the fans much as I had them on a switch and here in the summer temps are average 75 or less. I no longer have the fans on my setup they just didn't make the difference for me.

Congratulations! Glad to hear that you're impressed with the quality, fit and finish. Let us know how your fan set up comes out.

I did the same. I had two fans laying around from another project, wired up a relay from a junk harness. Probably have 5 bux in the whole setup.

I know what you mean by the fun part. I looked forward to doin the project, finishing and the enjoying the benefits but then there is a part that is bummed that it's all done. Thankfully, I get the opportunity to help out a fellow brother (4orceFed) in doing his Whipple and gears install. Really looking forward to it.

Fun? I'm not there yet. But after going for a ride in your OW beast, I can finally say I'm excited and looking forward to turning some wrenches.

Has everyone changed out their oil pump gears for billet? I wasn't sure if it was necessary on the whipple. And do you need to do anything with the damper?

Lots of good info and threads already with oil pump gear information. Just do a search and you'll find what your looking for.

But if I was you I'd do them for peace of mind alone. I took the chance and broke the stock OPG and toasted my motor. With that said it's not a common thing, but it is a chance.

Whaaaaaaaaa? Can you elaborate? Do you know what caused the failure? Was it installation, parts, fluke, abuse?

Crankshaft snouts can shift if "conditions" are such that allow it.

By "conditions" I mean: The driver doing something exceedingly careless like blipping the throttle in 2nd gear @ 7,000RPM to bark the tires as he goes down the road.

Crankshafts are stronger than OPGs. Billet gears protect from harmonic damage at sustained high RPM operation or when the engine's redline has been artificially increased via upgrades. They don't provide bulletproof protection against kinetic pendulums.
