Something is up and I'm hoping some of you guys may be able to help because I'm assuming Lund Support is closed until Monday by now. I just had MAK Cat deletes installed and the car ran fine on my way home from the shop. Once I got home, I installed a JLT CAI which was a snap. After I finished the CAI, I went to load the new tune from Lund. I plugged in the nGauge with the car off and the nGauge turned on. I selected "Tunes" and hit "Load Tune" and it told me to turn the ignition on but do not start the car which is what I did. The nGauge said it'd take about 8 minutes to flash the ECU. About 2-3 minutes in, the car shut off but the nGauge kept doing it's thing so I assumed it was part of the process. Another 20 minutes later, nothing had changed so I hit the ignition button and the car didn't come on at all. The headlights are on and the nGauge is still on but the car isn't getting power. A little worried about what step I should take next?

Edit: For the last 15-20 minutes the nGauge has just said "Please Wait". I unplugged the ngauge and tried to turn the car on and its like the ECU was wiped clean. The car is getting power now but it isnt starting at all and a bunch of errors are showing up like "Need Oil Change" "Hood Open", "Driver Door Ajar", etc. Im guessing Ill have to talk to Lund about this on Monday because I have no idea what to do now.

This seems odd to me right there. My nGauge usually says 4 minutes and then the second it starts to erase the PCM it kills everything in the car right then.......not 2-3 minutes later.

Did you get past the PCM erase and to were it starts to show the progress bar moving across the bottom of the screen as it downloads the tune file into the PCM?

Also is your nGauge on Firmware 180?

This is the first time flashing the car so Ive heard it takess a little while. No, I didnt get passed the PCM erase. I never saw any progress bar. After about 15-20 minutes the car was still off and the ngauge said something like "initializing". Thats why I thought it was weird. Thats the point when I pressed the ignition and nothing happened. I gave it another 15 minutes or so while the ngauge read "Please Wait" and then unplugged it. Once I unplugged the ngauge, it was like the PCM was erased or reset. The ignition turned on but the car wouldnt start and I was getting a bunch of random errors like "Door Ajar", "Hood Open", etc.

Well, here's what I would do.

1) Make sure your nGauge is on FW180. It shows at the bottom when it boots up. If it is not go to the Lund support page and download and install it.

2) I would re-download and re-copy the .enc tune file they sent you to the custom files directory and let it overwrite the one you currently have in there.

3) Make sure the OBD2 port connector is plugged in tight and and all the way seated down on the port.

4)Turn just the car power on, no start, and then plug the other end of the OBD2 cable into the nGauge. Let it power up and select "tuning" and then the file you copied in.

See what it does.......it should erase the PCM for about a minute or two and then start downloading the tune file to the PCM. Once it starts the download it puts a progress bar at the bottom of the nGuage. When the bar completes it re-powers the car and tells you the download was successful and to turn the power off for 10 seconds. Then try to start the car.

The nGuage is definitely FW180. I checked when I got it a couple weeks ago. Ill try that, though. Could the problem have been that I had the ngauge plugged in before I turned the car ignition on? I noticed you said to turn the car on and then plug in the ngauge.

Ill give that a try though, see what happens, and report back.

Shouldn't be an issue if you had it plugged in before you turned it on. Now if it started programming and you accidentally hit the start/stop button to turn the car off, yikes. Have you tried returning to stock yet? Try that and reload the tune.

Nah, I used my nguage for the first time the other day and plugged it in before powering on the car.

It started programming, and about 2-3 minutes in the car turned off. I definitely didn't hit the button by accident. I thought this was part of the process so I just let it do its thing. At this point the nGauge said something like "____ Initializing" or something like that. I can't remember exactly what it said. I should have taken a picture but hindsight is 20/20. Nothing changed for a good 15-18 minutes at which point I hit the ignition button to attempt to turn the car back on (it was still off at this point and the nGauge still read "____ Initializing"). I never saw any progress bar or anything. So, I hit the ignition button and nothing happened. The car didn't turn back on so I gave it another 10-15 minutes to see if it'd do anything else. Nothing changed. At this point it was about ~25 or so minutes in and the car was still off and the nGauge still said "_____ Initializing". It seems to me like there was some sort of issue removing the stock tune.

I reloaded the custom tunes onto the nGauge and gave it another shot. I made sure the OBDII plug was in snugly and it was. I plugged the other side into the nGauge and it turned on like normal. I went to tunes and selected the custom tune. Again, it said this would take 8 minutes and after I hit the check it said "Turn the ignition on". I turned the ignition on but now the nGauge doesn't even recognize that the ignition is on. The radio, interior lights, and nav and everything come on but the nGauge just stays on the screen that says "Turn the ignition on". I'm getting pretty scared that something is seriously wrong at this point.

How would I go about reloading the stock tune? I have a feeling that the nGauge didn't properly copy the stock tune which really scares me (and now when I turn on the ignition it's like the ECU has been wiped clean, I get a bunch of errors like Door Ajar, Hood Open, etc. and my current mileage doesn't show up). I really hope I'm not fucked here. I think my next move is probably waiting to call Lund on Monday. Hopefully they have some idea as to what happened. If anyone has any other ideas, though, I'm all ears.

Hmmm.....yea something is just not connecting. Seems the nGauge never reads that the car is powered on.....could be the OBD2 port, cable, nGuage itself.

Let us know how it gets resolved.....curious.

Have you tried disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery for about 30 minutes then trying the process all over again?

Well it seemed to recognize that the car was on the first time but didnt get any further than that. On subsequent tries though the ngauge isnt recognizing that the car is on. Im really at a loss here.

Not yet. Ill give that a shot this morning. Just so Im clear though you mean disconnecting the negative terminal for about 30 minutes, reconnect it, and then try it again right?

Update: Well disconnecting the battery was a mistake. I disconnected the negative for about 40 minutes and then reconnected it. The headlights came on when I reconnected the negative but now nothing comes on when I hit the ignition. Now Im worse off than I was before.

After reconnecting the negative, I let the car sit for 5-10 minutes and now its as if the battery is completely dead. What the fuck is going on?

That didnt go well. I disconnected the negative for about 40 minutes and when I reconnected it, its like the battery was dead. Nothing turns on now at this point.

Get your battery on a charger. I haven't heard of ngauge users having this issue like SCT owners but the flash process has killed SCT users battery half way through causing issues like this. The battery voltage may be playing with the flash since it seems like there isn't enough juice to finish the flash process. Just a thought but it may be failing because of battery issues.

My suggestion for the next step is to get that battery out and get it charged. If the battery has been run down from multiple attempts of flashes, you won't be able to move on.
