Is this normal?

Maybe I'm crazy or not familiar enough with this car. But I waited for my custom frame plate to come in prior to mount my license plate. I took the dealer temporary tag out of window. When I went to screw the plate in there are only two top holes and no bottom screw holes? What gives?

Yeah completely stupid! Take yourself to any hardware store and get a pack of felt furniture type pads(small ones), shove those under your plate. fixed.

My fusion came with rubber mounts so I bought some for the mustang, only issue is it required drilling holes.

Ya, I'm not a fan of this 2 screws into plastic deal. I preferred how Imported cars handled their plates, with proper threaded screw mounts. I'm in the middle of putting in proper thread mounts to screw into behind the bumper, and as much as I hate having a front plate I modified one of those "screw-less" taped on front plate brackets and secured it properly with threads on the inside of the front bumper.

First sports car. Have owned a Ford ranger, chevy Malibu, ford fusion. Wife has an Acadia. All of which have had 4 screw holes.

I like the idea of using the rubber or the furniture pads for protection. I was worried about it flapping around and causing minor scratches.

Funny that's what I ended up with. Worked pretty good for how simple/cheap it is. Even looks clean.

when I bring my car home, my brother asks why the plate is crooked. IDK, so I looked at it. The simple bastard that put it on missed one hole and rammed the screw through the plastic. The salesman blames the prep kid and the kid says he didn't put it on. What the hell, it's live with it. Better than giving it to the body shop.

I am on the same page as you. I put a plastic mount that I got at AutoZone and screwed it to the car and then the plate to it with 4 screws

In lieu of drilling holes, pick up a package of Industrial Velcro. I bought mine at Lowe's. Place a strip in the center, bottom, of the plate and attach the plate to the car as usual, with the top screws. It will prevent the plate from flapping around and protect the finish. I cleaned the paint and plate back, with alcohol first. I had it on all winter, and took it off, with the plate, for Spring cleaning. No paint problems. Reinstalled new strip.

I just used the dealer's ad sheet to serve as my back layer and mounted my plate over it. I've always taken off the dealer's ad frames because I don't want to be a walking billboard.

Worries about scratching paint on bumper, while drilling holes in said bumper, would prefer four holes over two...
