Is this normal?

I just picked up my car 2 days ago. 2016 model then i realize the headlights have condensation. Is this normal or should i bring it to dealer to fix the problem?

Sloop it up in your owners manual. I believe it says a little condensation is normal but pooling water is not and it should be taken to the dealer

Just make sure it has this problem going on at the time you take it in, video's/pic's won't be enough. Good luck.

I would be getting new lights. They are supposed to be a sealed housing. I don't see how any condensation in them could or should be considered normal. This is just my thoughts. Maybe I'm wrong.

It's normal. It happens every time I finish washing it. It goes away..

I was shocked to find that on my brand new mustang as well. Even more shocked to find out ford says its normal as they use vented headlights. Mine hasn't fogged up again since the 2nd day I've owned it. It was very rainy the first 2 days. I've had it almost 2 weeks now.

Unless it's completely sealed and airtight this will happen when exposed to a lot of water. Condensation is bad under the crystal of a dive watch, not so much on the underside of a headlight housing.

My fogs did this at 1500 miles and I had them replaced.

Any moisture in a headlight is NOT normal, and means the light is not sealed correctly. It will cause your lenses to get foggy very fast. Take it to the dealer and have them order a new light.

The manual states examples of where this is normal operation. Taking it to the dealer for adjustment except where stated as an anomaly is a waste of time as they will refer you to the owner's manual. Below is the text from the manual.


Lamp Assembly Condensation

Exterior lamps have vents to accommodate normal changes in pressure. Condensation can be a natural occurrence of this design. When moist air enters the lamp assembly through the vents, there is a possibility that condensation can occur in cold temperatures. When normal condensation occurs, a thin film of mist can form on the interior of the lens. The mist eventually clears and exits through the vents during normal operation. Clearing time may take as long as 48 hours under dry weather conditions.

Examples of acceptable condensation are:
• Thin mist without streaks, drip marks or droplets.
• Fine mist that covers less than 50% of the lens.

Examples of unacceptable moisture are:
• Water puddle inside the lamp.
• Large water droplets, drip marks or streaks on the interior of the lens.

If any of the above conditions of unacceptable moisture are present, contact an authorized.
