Just for curiosity. How does the room in the drivers seat compare between the Camaro and Mustang. And no I'm not going to find out for myself. I don't have any intention on setting foot on a GM lot

No data on the 6G, but the 5g Camaro was very bunker-like. High door lines, hood and dash and low roofline. The aspects that made it look menacing also made it unbearable, very cramped in my opinion. Mustang to me has much better aesthetics. Maybe the 6g Camaro is much better, the MT review touched on it a little, but the reviews have been mixed in this regard. Terrific performer, no question. Good car to drive regularly? Not sure. Will sit in one in our Feb auto show and judge for myself, but the interior in the s550 is great.

From the Road and Track Review:

But we’re getting ahead of ourselves. That styling—with its narrow slits for side windows, fat C-pillar, and short rear glass—has, indeed, done nothing to improve the outward visibility in this new car. It is abysmal. We adjusted to it, partly by accelerating hard before performing lane changes just to clear some room. Adjust your mirrors carefully. The interior of the Ford Mustang feels ballroom-spacious by comparison.

The tanklike construction also prevents much light from entering the cabin, which, even with our test car’s bright-red upholstery accents, makes every drive in the Camaro feel like an adventure in spelunking. It’s not all bad news inside, though. The seats in our SS test car are simply fantastic—supportive and firm with just the right amount of bolstering. The steering wheel is perfectly contoured, as if our hands had formed it out of warm clay. The mix of interior materials, while not exactly Mercedes-level, are nonetheless a marked improvement on those of the old car. The infotainment screen’s surround and the instrument-binnacle trim are hard and chintzy, but who ever taps on those things, other than us?

Other ergonomic misfires include center HVAC vents mounted so low in the center stack that they dispense air directly onto your shifting hand, the world’s most useless door pockets, and an infotainment screen canted curiously down toward the floor, where it reflects the bright, faux-metal shifter surround. Thankfully, Chevy’s infotainment system is easy to navigate through the eight-inch touch screen. And our car came with interior accent lighting that can be changed to any of 24 different colors, six of which are some variety of pink. The rear seats? It’s best to not think of them as seats. As in the Porsche 911, they are simply upholstered shelves.

Just read also that the Camaro coupe only has 9cuft of (EDIT: trunk) volume. What the heck! My Vert as 2.5 more than that and the Fastback Stang has 50% more. Again, as a daily driver that is a sacrifice that I could not justify.

I'm 6'3" at 330 lbs and I drive my Mustang wearing Red Wing boots and I'm plenty comfortable.

All you lucky S550 owners should be happy with your Mustangs, it's a superb car.

I'm still more than happy with my 2005 GT. In my mind the S197 was a good Mustang. The S550 is not only a great Mustang, it's also a great modern car period! There are a number of compromises in my S197, but ones that I am prepared to accept. The S550 is, in my opinion, a MUCH better all round package, from fit and finish to performance and handling. There are very few compromises compared to its (much more varied now) competition.

And you know what excites me? The '18MY S550 will likely improve on an already impressive package.

These continue to be great times to be a Mustang enthusiast :)
I agree that Ford did a damn good job the new design of the S550. I almost pulled the trigger a few years back on a S197 but an unfortunate life altering event delayed it, sometimes timing can't be dictated but it worked out and I'm very happy with my S550. I wasn't around a lot of S197's to garner an opinion on their fit and finish but I will say the couple dozen or so S550's I've looked at were from fair to good on fit and finish with the exception of one or two cars. Issues like should get worked out after the initial year of a new design release.

Look no further than the 4th gen Fbody for proof that performance doesn't necessarily equal sales success. The 4th gen dominated the Mustang for years at the track yet still went extinct due to piss poor sales.
