I feel when people are comparing tenths of seconds between different fast cars, it just hot air.
I can't imagine anyone with an open class sport bike background thinking any car other than a Veyron is quick.

And I'm just over here thinking my ecoboost is fast...

The way I see it, I still managed to get class III misdemeanor criminal speeding in my "slow" ecoboost so why would I possibly want anything faster?

Cause if you had a faster car the cops wouldn't have caught you on the first place! You would just simply disappear like a glitch in their system :bolt:

Uhhh, because you learned?

By that logic you should drive the absolute slowest car sold in America because it would still allow you to commit class III misdemeanors ;)

The speed of any street car is a side effect. If one car is faster than another it's just because it has a better power/drag ratio. The better power is there for better acceleration, the higher top speed is a side effect.

Speed itself is boring other than the thrill of imagining how much it will hurt if you hit something. You don't feel speed. I mean depending on how close to the equator you live, you are going close to a thousand miles an hour just sitting in you living room from the rotation of the earth. Then there's the speed of the Earth around the sun, our arm of the Milky way, etc, etc.

But you can feel G forces. Which is why magazine reviews and car buyers care about braking, handling and acceleration. Physiologically its the Gs that matter. The only real advantage of speed is that it increases the stopping distances so you can enjoy braking Gs for a longer amount of time.

And frankly, forward acceleration is the most boring of all because they don't build cars that have an engine even close to the braking power. Take a Mustang up to its top speed and it will pull 1+ negative Gs (whatever the tires can do) all the way down to a stop. Now do the opposite, a GT won't see 1 G ever (with the tires hooked up), and quickly dropping to well less than .5 ending with an average of probably 1 or 2 tenths. Pitiful. A clapped out Yugo will generate more Gs stopping than a GT can accelerating.

Still more is better when it comes to Gs and the only area that there is big differences between cars is forward acceleration (power/mass). I mean its so cheap to make brakes that can overpower the tires and so cheap to make suspension that can generate more Gs and since both of those are safety related there are relatively little differences between cars as compared to huge differences in power output between cars because that is much more expensive to come by.

So to answer your question: You want a quicker car which just happens to be faster as a side effect. That's assuming you learned a lesson about speed in your criminal justice experience.

And helicopter.

Helicopters aren't that fast. Most less than 100 mph. Their advantage is that obstacles don't get in their way.

Teslas are damned impressive.
Except in the looks department. :p

They could stand to sex it up a little.

OK...a lot. :D
