Corsa touring is very quiet for an aftermarket axle back. Just put mine on today. Sounds great! Quietest axle back out there I think. Borla touring is probably about the same.

This with longtubes I bet would sound really good!
But does it have an X-pipe instead of an H-pipe? And does get raspy, or keep a nice deep mellow tone?

Corsa touring is just axle back so it leaves the stock resonator in place.

I couldn't imagine the drone with muffler deletes, or the volume with LT's and muffler deletes.

Bringing this thread back to life to poll the current thinking. I have an H-pipe with stock mufflers and was wondering at what point do the stock mufflers become a restriction for making power? I'm not sold on the idea of aftermarket mufflers just for sound, but if they, at some point down the modding path, prevent a bottleneck, I'd go for it.

It seems that the thinking so far in this thread is that stock mufflers are OK for any NA build, but when going FI aftermarket mufflers may be needed for max HP. Is this still the consensus?

Just purchased Kooks with green cats. Going to leave the suitcase resonator in at first to get a baseline on volume and tone. Don't want the whole town to hear every time I go WOT to redline, lol

So basically, this just turned into another 'what exhaust to get' thread. :tsk:

I don't think the stock mufflers are restrictive. The difference is in the size of the piping. Most aftermarket systems are 3" and stock is 2.5"

How do plan on doing an NA build without going to 3"? Headers to stock pipe diameter seems pointless

The stock mufflers are actually fairly restrictive. Not enough to cause performance issues on an otherwise stock car, but as soon as you start pushing more through and out of the engine, it will start to be.

Not for sound attenuation, it isn't. But otherwise, yes, it is. I spoke to a guy who cut out the lower section and it sounded good and pretty similar to the FRPP mufflers.

That's crazy, it would be interesting to see inside some Corsas if anyone has the nuts/money to do it.

Corsa's mufflers are straight through, with no cross-sectional restrictions (as are Borla, FRPP and the majority of systems out there). The RSC cylinders/volumes run their length around the muffler.
