i'm hoping to get a used 6th gen 5.0 in the next couple months but if this bubble doesn't pop i'm better off factory ordering a new mustang rather than paying a few thousand less than new with thousands of miles on it.

Ideally I want to get a used 5.0 for 20k like I saw pre-corona instead of paying close to 50k after tax and etc for a mustang that can easily get hit by some idiot driver on the road who's not paying attention and destroy the value of my car in 2 seconds (every day i have people merging into me without looking), but thats life i guess

Also i read that october 1 will be the start of the 2022 model for factory ordering, so if i plan to factory order should i wait for after october 1 or would it be cheaper to get the 2021 model?

Usually prices don't change much if there isn't a redesign. So you have to weigh getting one sooner vs if there is some new option or improvement you want to wait for.

Keep a look out for a private seller. I still see some good deals just not from a dealership

Hello @Zent and welcome to the forum. Congrats for wanting to get into a S550. So let's discuss your plan.

First off forget pre Covid and the cost of what used cars were. Past history. Then decide what you are looking for. Base, premium, loaded, etc. Then determine what you are willing to spend. As far as the chance of getting into an accident, just put that out of your mind or you're not going to buy anything. And if it does happen that's what you have insurance for.

Forget used cars today unless as @Jackson1320 said, you can get a deal from a private seller. I would recommend contacting Zach at Granger Ford and see what he can put together for you on a new order. He can also give you an idea of order times for 21' & 22' models. The cars themselves should be identical except for color. So unless you have to have one of the new 2022 colors a 21' should work well for you. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.
