Laundry List:

  • PP2
  • Diff cooler
IOW, pretty much where the PP could have been over three years ago. Perhaps with MPSS tires rather than PSC2's.

Well... an engine is just an air pump... which engine can pump more air...? Efficiently..?

Anyone ever find a dyno plot of the gen3 Coyote, compared to gen2..?

I though I saw one compared to the previous engine. Be nice to see Gen3 compare to the new Stingray's dyno plot. Illustrate how the torque and HP differ... be interesting to see how the gearing plays out. The new Coyote revs 500rpms higher and gained low-end torque.

...what I don't understand is why the Mustangs torque is so poor when compared to the Camaros. Even with FI and/or mod's the torque figures are well behind that of the Camaro.
If you look at engine specific output, you'll see the Camaro has 80hp/80lb-ft per liter, versus the Mustang's 92hp/84lb-ft.

Now which engine do you think is down on horsepower and torque?

Was wondering when that would come up. Look at the engine sizes of the competition compared to their power output and I think you’ll see the Mustang does quite well with the smaller displacement. 5.7, 6.4, 6.2 etc. 6.2 Camaro makes 455 HP, 5.7 Challenger makes 375, 6.4 Challenger makes 485 HP. Granted yes we are a litttle down on torque in comparison, but we also are working with a smaller displacement motor. 5.0 still makes 435, 460 or 480 HP depending on year/model and our 5.2 liter makes 562. I’ll stick with what Ford is offering, thanks.

Or, you could just buy PP2 for yourself and leave PP1 for the people it's meant for, the people who want a little bit of extra performance without severely sacrificing ride quality, tire maintenance, and driveability. This really isn't a difficult concept, all the packages are positioned and priced exactly how they should be. That's why Chevy is aiming to add a base level V8 Camaro.

Keep in mind, the 6th gen 1LE was only out for 1.5 years before Ford shot back with the PP2. It's not like they were just sitting there with their thumbs up their asses for 10 years as you make it seem

There is a much better replacement for displacement, its called boost or better engineering haha. Engine wise, ford hands down wins in my book. Especially if you're a racing fan, they stay well inside the guidelines with their factory offerings and still perform, where as chevy has to build a motor that is not offered with the vette to compete.

Whoops! I forgot the Camaro lt1 was 6.2 liters now. That means the specific output is only 73hp/73lb-ft per liter. What a boat anchor!

All things being equal, the equivalent sized coyote would make 570hp/520lb-ft!

I think some of the people complaining about the lack of power must never have owned an older 5.0. Before I put a Kenne Bell on my 95, it was rated at 215/285.

Absolutely you can, my 88 was mostly stock except for exhaust and I loved it. You and I aren’t the ones questioning the current gens perceived lack of power though.

True that! I can't wait to get my hands on my PP2! Good thing it comes with all those traction nannies:lol:

Congrats on the 18. When I was still working at the dealer I really had to weigh waiting for the 18s versus getting a 17. I chose the 17 mainly because of the front bumper, great incentives and me being impatient. The digital cluster was one thing I really liked on the 18s, have that now. Looking at the PP2 options, really liking the wheel and tire combo. I’m almost thinking now that I’d rather have the 10 speed auto instead of the MT82 though. Remember when getting a GT with an auto was frowned upon? Now they perform better than the sticks.

If you get a used GT350 you can be close to the cost of a new GT, depending on options. You're right that an R is expensive. It's more than I wanted to spend. The GT350 is a blast on the streets and the track. I think it would be a better deal than doing a lot of modifications to a GT because you have to have the faster vehicle.

I try to not worry about the competition because there's always going to be someone faster. Just get what you like and have fun. If you buy the 1LE there are still going to be faster vehicles at the track.
Not many though the 1LE is a supercar fyi

Haven’t seen that anywhere yet. 1LEs are always compared head to head to Mustang GTs not the Ford GT which is undeniably a supercar. Maybe I missed something somewhere.
