Is it possible to use a classic(non-thouch) 5th gen IPOD with Sync via USB? I've tried using my Android phone and it recognizes and plays music off of it, but the IPOD isn't recognized at all. I have verified that the IPOD works in another vehicle via USB, but they didn't have Microsoft Sync in theirs, so I'm thinking it may be an OS compatibility issue. I've reset defaults and done a master reset in Sync, so that's out the window for options. Has anyone had any luck with this?

I am using an 80GB click wheel in my car. Interface is not the best, but it does work. One thing I don't like is that it has to re-index each time it is connected.

I'm also using a Black iPod "Classic" in my 2016.

All I did was was plug the USB into the port found inside the center console - the SYNC3 recognized it and it's an icon found in the "Sources" section where you see the same for Sirius, etc.

If I want to listen to the iPod, I go to "Sources", then click icon for the iPod on the screen and the music is readily available.

Yup I used an ancient Ipod 80 gig as well, fires right up off of USB 2 in the console. Make sure your cable is in good condition, I had to buy a new one for it work 100%.

So I've now confirmed that my cable and IPOD are not the issue. I connected it to a co-workers explorer that has Sync in it, and it works without fault. I tried updating my Sync earlier, but I'm not sure that it did as it was supposed to do. I'll be giving it another shot after work to see if the update was just unsuccessful, or if it's some other issue.

What version is everyone running on their IPOD and Sync? Just took it to the dealer and they found nothing wrong with it when they hooked up an Iphone. They're telling me that my IPOD is too old for the new technology to read it.

That's weird, because mine is an old 80gb as well. I'm considering formatting it and starting fresh, because something just doesn't seem right. I've been successful in using 2 other AOS devices, but for some reason this one doesn't want to work.

Hi Cara,

While the link you supplied could be helpful - however under "Apple", there are no iPods listed at all - which is what the folks are asking about above.
Hey Cobra Jet,

Thanks for pointing that out. I took a look at the list and showing compatible devices for 2014 vehicles and older. I'm unable to speculate why this info isn't available for 2015-2017 vehicles, but I have passed on this concern. The 2014 list should be the same for the 2015 vehicles, but as soon as I'm given more info on the newer vehicles, I'll be sure to keep you all posted.

Cara
