Here's a brief introduction to HR278.
After two aborted attempts to buy an Oxford White GT350R, the third time was a charm on Avalanche Gray. The story kind of goes like this.
On February 14th, I bought HR115 -- an OW GT350R in Canada. I paid for it in cash-in-full and had all the paperwork in order to import to the USA. Ford Canada and Ford USA both approved the deal. Anybody who wants to full story of what happened next can look up my first posts on this forum.
The very next day after that deal imploded, I found another OW GT350R much closer to home -- only 80 miles away. I put down a $5000 deposit, received a signed offer to sell from the dealer, and everything looked in order. The next day, I noticed a strange post on this forum that somebody had found an identical car at what sounded like the same dealer -- send a PM for details. I got the details and found out it was the same car I thought I had just purchased. I checked my bank account, and my deposit wasn't processed. I called the dealer and was told the whole thing was just a big mistake -- the car listed on the forum was the same car but wasn't for sale to anybody. Supposedly, the car was "entered in their computer wrong" as being available for sale, but was actually purchased (on reserve) for some local Ford executive. So I lost that deal.
The third time was a charm. Back when I bought HR115, I had also found an Avalanche Gray GT350R at Team Ford in Las Vegas -- HR278. At the time, they wanted $25k ADM and were standing firm on that price. By this time, a month later, I called them back, they gave a little, I gave a little, and we made a deal to buy the car. I flew to Las Vegas the next day, and drove HR278 home. The buying experience at Team Ford was outstanding!
Six week later, the dealer for #2 called me back. "Hey, you still want a car? Remember that car you bought, but didn't buy? Well, guess what: it's available now...you still want it?" LMFAO -- NO!
My plan for the GT350R was to track it sometimes -- and not sure what else. I've got other cars like my E92 M3, and I daily drive a Prius in the carpool lane of Silicon Valley. So the GT350R was definitely a weekend-warrior car, but I really needed to get those carbon fiber wheels off and replace them with something else. I planned to keep the CF wheels for track, and the replacements for the street. I bought a set of HRE R101's for the street, wrapped with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Nobody ordered lug nuts, so the ones you see below (the ones that show too much thread) aren't the final ones.
Thanks for reading.
