Depends on the job you do, and who you are dealing with
if you take your partner to a fancy restaurant you dress up smart,
do you turn up to a Wedding in jeans and t shirt?
It's about showing the person you have made the effort to dress smartly cause you are meeting them
I draw pictures for a living. They don't pay me to dress up.

Weddings or funerals yeah.. I'll put the monkey suit on for those occasions.

Interview went well and it was indicated that next stage is a technical interview. This would be a great job for me so I am keen to progress.

The Mustang is now in semi hibernation for the winter so I defaulted to taking the Focus which also played safe in the Mustang vs Focus dilemma.

I checked the interviewer beforehand on LinkedIn and there were no petrol head references and there were some likes for animals and environment. In the event they probably would not have seen the Mustang.

Many thanks for all the comments and debate and very interesting over the split of opinions. It's a good job I didn't ask if I should wear a suit and tie. :)

yes to a suit and tie ;)! Chuck a waistcoat on, and a pocket square. Tie the tie in a funky knot, and the pocket square into peaks... because, you're unique and different right ;)!

Glad it went well; good luck for the next interview!!!
