So, I have been having this rattle since I picked up the car. Its from the glove box area (not 100% sure) and it is getting louder in the past few days. I just made a video, it really stands out if you watch it on your phone. If you have the same rattle, please leave a comment so we can work this out.

ps: I made this video while I was in 2nd gear rolling from 2000rpm-3500rpm

Update(12/31): The dealer fixed the rattle yesterday, guess what, one of the Tranny mount bolts went loose and the washer had been rattling and making the noise.

Wow, that's messed up.

I've once had a rattle/buzz that would show up when cruising around 2000-2500rpm or accelerating in that range. In my case it was an bracket mounted to the back of the engine to lift it, and a cable was touching it in the engine bay. The bracket would vibrate at those RPMs causing the bracket to vibrate against the cable causing the noise. That was in a 2001 Grand Prix GTP with the 3800 Series II S/C engine. Not saying this is your case but a glove box sounding rattle COULD be coming from the engine bay. The only way I was able to diagnose was to have the car in drive, hold the brake and load the engine with the throttle. There wasn't enough vibration produced in neutral.

Hope this is of some insight. Otherwise have the dealer fix it.

First, is there anything inside your glove box itself bouncing around? Make sure the manual drop-down is secured as well. I have a small can of Amor All cleaning wipes in my wife's Escape that rattles around sometimes.

Second, have you felt around the glove box paneling to see if anything feels loose?

Nothing in there, and everything I can reach by hand is tight and nice. Felt like something right under the windshield, could be from the engine bay like Revvdmedia mentioned.

Check the sunglass holder. Near the steering wheel.

Sounds like the noise I get from my shifter in the lower gears.

Please help

Could you please post another vid or repost the old one? I have been to the dealer three times and I think it may be the same thing but would like to see the video, I have been to the dealer three times with no luck. The rattle isn't all the time but only happens when I come to Idle after about a 30 to 40 minute drive and when I switching to park or whatever ( it's an auto) and it's an ecoboost. But it sounds in the middle near the glove box and lasts a few seconds to a minute and goes away when it happens. I need help bad.... it's been like this since I purchased the car. I checked other threads and told them it may be the ebrake cable. They checked and re routed it and it wasn't that. They also checked exhaust and it wasn't that. Please help!!?
