So I replaced my interior lighting with LED bulbs from Diode Dynamics - and I'm pretty happy with them. I did the map lights, the glove box, and the trunk. Pics below (apologize for the blurry trunk light pic, had the camera set to hold the shutter open longer for night shot and I suffer from shaky hands). These are all white LED's.

Problem is I missed the console bulb (didn't see one listed on DD website for that one) assume its the same as the glove box one. But I went to check it out and how to replace it, and if you can't tell from the pic, I goofed and pushed it back into the console. Now I figured how to pop the plastic piece off inside the console, and the piece off the back, which appears to only give me access to removing the lid - which looks like what I need to do to get access to the light bulb - has anyone else done that and is this the case? Or am I missing something.

Is the light in the center console only for premium models?

I do have a Premium, but I assumed they all had it. But I discover stuff all the time that my car has that others that are different configurations don't. I've never seen inside a base model.

HAHAHAHAHA! I made the same dumb mistake and my console light is also hanging loose. I was planning on telling the dealer that it was like that when I got the car and have them figure out this mess. I was also thinking about finding some kind of small suction device to pull it back into place.

I made the same silly mistake and pulled mine out last night as well assuming it was a bulb you can change. It popped out and fell back into the console. Unfortunately it doesnt look like one you can change, or change easily like all the others. The bulb is wired into that plastic piece.

I did end up getting it back into place but it wasnt easy. You have to get the whole piece back into the inside of the console instead of behind. I used pliers and grabbed the end piece on the top of the bulb housing. The piece that you guys probably pushed down on to remove it from the slot. It may take a little while but don't give up.

Once you have it back inside the console, put it back into place by putting the bottom of it into place first and putting some pressure on the top piece to snap it back into place.

I fiddled with it a bit yesterday and couldn't seem to easily remove it so I gave up. I was waiting in the Dirty Bird drive-thru at the time which might have saved me from borking it. Thanks to this thread, I'll be leaving it alone! :D

Definitely man, no need to take it off. For those that have, it's not easy to put back into place but you can do it.

Just curious how everyone is getting the glove box light out. I can't quite get it with my fingers and am afraid to use pliers for fear of breaking the bulb. Thank you.

I used a small flat head screw driver - I have this small multi-tool I keep in my car, and the one that it has was perfect - and just slid it up in there near the base of the bulb and propped it out. It's not in there very tight and doesn't require much force, but it's pretty much impossible to grab with fingers.
