No, it's a keypad only. It came with a toggle switch but I won't be using it. I see no point to it, and a good car thief will hunt for that button and find it.

DIY remote kill switch. Splice in a hidden toggle switch into the "push to start" switch under clutch pedal for manual transmission, brake pedal for autos. Just two wires coming off that switch...gotta tie into the right one :D
post a step by step?

more pics?

video of it working?

thanks

I like what you're saying about the keypad vs a toggle switch. My fear would be that a keypad would be obvious and then you know where the wires are that you now have to defeat in order to start the car. Some of the best ones I've seen were toggles worked into a random switch in the car from the factory. So you'd need the key, the clutch in, and say the passenger window switch up, then press the button and it will start. Although those big toggles next to the start button would be tempting, I think they would also be obvious.

We did the clutch version on my son's '94 GT. Works great.

Seriously?? Does really splicing that wire underneath the clutch pedal disable the ignition??
One of the inputs to the start system is a complete circuit on that push switch on the clutch. If you don't have the clutch pushed in, no start, right? So you cut one of those wires and put a switch in it. Open that switch and you can push the clutch all day and never complete the circuit. Hide your switch someplace (ours is in the bottom of the console storage) and no thief will be willing to spend the time to diagnose your non-starting car.

There's a blue with pink stripe(thicker one) and a black with green stripe(thinner) wire, possibly ground? Just need to figure out which one. The high tech, computer controlled everything makes this a little more difficult than my old school '99 BMW I did this on.

If they want the car they will get it, period. The switch may stop the car from being started, but in the right circumstances and they get in the car (by opening or braking the window) they can still get the car it in neutral and drag it with a hitch and a tow strap; even easier in a manual must kick off the parking brake and go. Auto at least you have to get around the lockout but once they are in they can still program a new fob.

If the crooks as sophisticated enough to to use all this tech, then they are smart enough to have backup methods to get the car. They'll get the car under the right circumstances (time of day, location, etc) if they really want it.

Im personally not going to start hacking up my car/wiring to try to prevent something that maybe possibly could happen sometime in the near future. My insurance will take car of that god forbid something happened.

To each his own. Filing an insurance claim is never a fun or rewarding experience.

Of course it's not, but again if a thief wants something they are going to get it with enough time and opportunity to do so.

No one is claiming a kill switch makes your car theft-proof. It's another level of deterrence the average douche bag isn't going to fight through.
