I installed my bmr adjustable toe rods last night, and on freeway i notice the car pulls to the right. Did i not adjust the new toe rods at proper lengths? I followed LMR video on you tube.
Get an alignment. Even if you got the lengths dead-on perfect (you won’t), there’s enough slop in the retaining bolts for your toe to be up the shit. Also, because toe and camber are inter-linked (you can’t move one without the other moving), you may have a slight change in camber also, although minimal.
OK. Thank you! So I’m thinking maybe I should wait until my camber arms get here? I also ordered the BMR nonadjustable version. I guess they are on backorder but I should have them by Thursday.
I didnt think so. But some reason it is, and all i changed was adj toe links. Than today installed non adjustable upper camber arms. Went straight to alignent after that.
Your current alignment, while not "bad" - could be a little better.
For example, your front toe is out. I usually like to see about .05 to .10 range total toe in up front on a street car so it tracks nice and straight.
Also, I see inconsistency from side to side with camber. Usually not a "big" deal...however, keep in mind that since the camber and toe are so closely related, when they have any significant difference - the toe is changing at a different rate throughout suspension travel.
Over the years on IRS cars I have become a very big proponent of side to side consistencty. I like thrust angles to be 0.00 and I like L to R sides to be as close to 100% match as possible.
In your specific case, I think the toe out up front could be causing the sensation you feel....and could even be the rear toe as well, if you still have rubber bushings on the RLCAS and the toe knuckle mounts. Due to the deflection in those mounts, I like to usually see a total toe of around .24 to .30 on the rear so the car does not act funny.
Thank you so much for the info! I am not sure how my front toe could be out. Other than when ford dropped the k member to do oil pan. I just got it back about 2 weeks ago. On the rear i have bmr adjustable toe rods, vertical links, bmr cradle lockout, steeda pro action shocks, bmr upper camber arms non adjustable. Performance pack car. Not sure if that makes a difference. Also lowered 1 inch. Never used to pull but if i let off steering wheel it will slowly go in other lane. I also have some caster camber plates that i havent installed yet.
Oh and now that i remember i have the two front alignment pins from steeda in the irs but left out the rears because i had the old longer set that dosnt work with bmr lockout kt.
